Do guys get flustered because of eye contact?

for context, I talked to this guy the other day, he was pretty tall like above 5’9 / 180 cm and also a lot bigger than me. I on the other hand am like 5’4 / 165 cm tall. So when I stood in front of him I had to look up at him while talking. And I noticed that he wasn’t holding eye contact for very long / looked away and everytime I looked up at him again he was kinda flustered and seemed a bit nervous. But when we talk normally, while sitting down or from a bit further away he doesn’t have any problems with holding eye contact. Why is that?
