What do I text my ex boyfriend to break the ice after ugly break up?

I have done something stupid when I try to win my ex back

He was totally pissed off and angry at me

So now it's been two months passed that we did not have any forms of contacts

Now I decided to initiate contact by texting him to break the ice. Since we broke up not in a pleasant way, I don't know what should I text him.

I have a few dumb ideas of "across the bow" style text

for example

telling him that the SLR camera on his wishlist for a long time was on sale, he just missed it but I will keep an eye out

or telling him I just read some funny books just reminded me of him and text it in a light-hearted way

or just simply sending him a joke?

one of my friends suggested me to initiate the text for asking him some favor for me, but I can't come up anything to ask that is not too lame

Do you want him back or do you want to pull the "let's be friends". Let's be honest here if you guys do become friends and you or him ends up flirting with another person sh*t will go haywire again. And most likely you'll be posting here again. Make sure your purpose is clear and you know what you want here.

Asking a favor isn't a good idea, he's mad at you and the chances are he won't even bother to respond to your request. Talking about that camera, ...hm, I don't know, I wouldn't do it.

Just be straight up and tell him you want to work it out. Tell him you're sorry how things are (only if that is true) but I wouldn't ask something of him, he'd probably feel used
