I really do not know why you people do not get to know the person's personality, attitude, background far more before you meet and talk on phone a lot more, instead of rushing to meet and then wondering why it did not work out. Most of you seem to be silly enough to go by looks only and then wonder why the rest is no good.

@bethshepherd The only to find out if someone is lying and/or posting deceiving photos is to meet them. That's common sense. It's not rocket science. Looking at a posting... even just talking by phone before you meet them does not give you a clear picture. People lie all of the time about "personality, attitude, background" and many other things.

As someone who gets paid to write articles about dating and relationships and is qualified in it, helping paying clients every day - and having a lot of common sense let me see.
You do not have to meet someone to check out if they look like their photos, you can Skype with them. Most rush into meeting someone based purely on their looks, especially guys. Shallow and a waste of time.

You are quick to use them in your second response which is dripping with condescension. Not everyone has or does Skype. I am not most men, thank you very much. I would NEVER proceed "purely on their looks." I am not shallow. In the absence of video chatting, meeting is the only way... unless I hire a private investigator.

If you think the normal dating sites are rough and a waste of time try signing up on the dating sites for marrieds. Women can join free and will often get paid to join and put on "fake " profiles. The men have to pay to be on there week by week, and it is very expensive for them. They are only looking for sex, so guess what, they find that women are not queueing up to sleep with married men who only want them for sex! Wow. How amazing. Several of the married men who joined them told me that they ended up paying for the sex, a lot of prostitutes on there, they got sick and tired of being turned down by the ones who were looking for an actual date/relationship and usually chose the single men.
