Girls, how do you feel about a guy opening his car door for you?

Thanks for the responses! She said thank you when I opened my car door for her (when I asked her to meet up for coffee), and seemed genuinely delighted. I'm getting hints she likes me, and I really like her so I don't want to screw it up.

But-- if want to give her a hint that you like her more than just a friend when opening doors.

Smile, look into her eyes and when she says thank you.
Say something along the lines of "your welcome princess" most girls like these stuff. Trust me i know. Pet names, sometimes do the job!

I don't think I'd base polite behavior as reason to assume a guy would like me more than just a friend if I knew he was just a friend. I'd be very flattered, but I'd think that he was just very chivalrous and that he was rather old-school in his manners.

That's not a clear enough indication. I know some guys are just more 'gentlemanly" or polite and will do that for everybody, not just me, so I don't assume.

I got freaking lit up like a Christmas tree by my ex for not doing that. Like, you're capable of opening the door yourself, and the less time I spend walking to the opposite side, opening/closing it for you, and walking back the faster I can start the car and get us going.

Some like it but only if they like you. The rest will hate it. At least around here. Heck I can't even give a friend my jacket or umberela cause they don't like it. The only positive resonce I get is from holding the door. Even then I only get thanked 1 out of 10 times that I do it.
See if she likes it and I'd not cut back a bit but still act like a gentleman.

So I've been talking with this guy I met from a dating site who is a ex marine and now cop and he seems alright, I have his number, Facebook account and we have mutual friends, went to the same community college... he lives 30min away... anyway he's offering to pick me up for the date and I told him normally id say no but I might sorta view him differently.. he seems to be very nice so far and not pushy what I like... He replied with this:
Cop: "Hey whatever makes you feel more comfortable. I won't think of you any different if you wanna meet me there. Completely up to you"
"Not a problem at all"
"I like that you view me differently :)"
"And not trying to pressure you but if you wanna have a couple drinks I really don't mind driving. Cuz I won't get a ticket lol"
"But again it's completely up to you"

Thoughts on what was said? Should I let the guy pick me up? Lol... I do love chivalry but want to do what's best..

@niknac09 getting a woman is not chivalrious it is just a nice thing to do. Most women I know don't drive. He also sounds like he is above the law which might raise a few flags. Either way it is no skin off his nose. If he is going to drink and drive don't go with he cause he might drive drunk

I think the chances are 50-50 on him liking me. I know some guys are just polite and open doors for girls, but then again some could do it because they have some feelings for you. I think the last mentioned is more common nowadays.

I will think that's nice of him to do. In my culture guys do that, because they are genuinely nice and not do it to get things back. My cousins do it, my uncles, my guy friends ext. Is just a nice thing to do and to help

personally I say for the 1st date meet him somewhere for coffee during the day and see how that goes if you like him and everything goes well I say let him pick you up for dinner for a second date. that's exactly what my boyfriend and I did. when we went out for the 1st time.
