What do you think about a guy opening your car door?

I recently took a girl out a dinner, and I wasn't sure yet whether or not I liked her romantically or just as a friend.

As we were walking from her house to the car, I was wondering, should I open her car? Or is that something of the past that would seem weird. It's not really my natural personality either so it felt funny.

I then thought, I'm not sure if I just want to be friends, so maybe opening her door might falsely communicate I'm into more than I am... So with all these thoughts in my head I just did nothing...

So tell me girls, or guys who have gotten different results from this, what do you think when a guy goes out of his way to walk around the car and open the door for you?

I'm dying to know your thoughts on this one...

i'm older so my answer may not be correct but gentlemen open doors for all woman and children not just girlfriends. So yeah open the door for her. News will spread fast what a great guy you are So even if she ends up being just a friend opening car doors or any doors will never hurt and can only help. If you were wondering if you should open the door...well then of course you should. lol Follow your heart...Take that leap of faith. Better to fail trying then to fail because of fear and doing nothing at all.. By the way the fact that you went to her door rather then calling her from outside her house shows you are a gentlemen. I think your thinking to much. As they say Just Do It.

It's a small action,very chivalrous and gentleman-like. Girls always like to be treated like ladies. Don't worry, if a guy took me out for dinner I wouldn't think he wanted to be my boyfriend just because he opened my car door, whether it worked out or not I would just think he's a gentleman so it scores him points no matter what happens ;) I'm all for chivalry, I'm an old-fashioned gal. I recently went on a date and the guy opened the car door for me, it was really sweet and it didn't end up working out btwn us but it made me walk away thinking he's a nice guy, even if the date doesn't work out it can't hurt to leave with a good impression of each other

Well if someone did that to me I just only think that he’s being a gentleman. I’m not thinking that he likes me because of that. I can see that your intense, you seem to be awkward in front of her? There’s something with this girl that can make you feel in different.

I open any door for them and I don't get any thanks but that's fine I guess. Response I received was "I'm not use to that" If its someone I care for then yes its programmed into me if its just a friendship then it really does not seem appropriate. Do it next time see what she says and let me know.

Personally, I grew up where a girl can open her own door and having to stop and wait for a guy to do it for me is more irritating than thoughtful. However, having recently moved from Alaska - where a girl can dig out her own car, change her own tire, and rarely is unarmed - to Texas, I can tell you the Southern Belles sing a different tune. Just do what's most comfortable for you.

Opening a door doesn't mean anything only that your a gentlement. My friend always opens the door for me and we are just friend. Openeing door never gets old any many guys do it and every girl loves it when a guy opens the door for them even if there are just friends.

I don't think too much about 'friend' or 'possible romantic interest'...I just would find him to be well mannered & a gentleman...however, if I already like him, opening a door for me would cause me to go head over heels for him ha ha :)

I think it's really nice. At first it used to annoy me but now since my boyfriend does it all the time I think of any guy that does it as a gentleman.

opening the door is gentleman like, I alway open the door for woman. I did for my ex, and she eventually got frusrated with me doing it, so what did I do? I still opened it for her haha

I like it and it shows the guy is a true gentleman. Shows he has good breeding. Chivalry is definitely not dead
