Why does it seem like he treats me differently to everyone else?

Ok for starters this guy is driving me crazy! We go to college together and are on the same course so I see him almost every day. since day one I've kinda had this feeling this guy was into me, simply by the way he looks at me and by looks at me I mean a lot. I've also tested this by moving out of his line of vision, he will always find a way to be looking at me. Now this guy is confident, he's all up in everyone's face making jokes and playing the fool. I always sit with the same group of people and before a lecture he will come over and be his loud usual self? Talk to everyone around me... but never me? I don't get it! Then if I happen to catch him alone, he's quiet, rarely jokes with me even though he knows I have a good sense of humour and can take it. It's really starting to grind on me! Like why treat me differently, we spend a lot of time together and it's getting awkward... I try talkng to him and he just stares at me and gives me short answers before rushing off. And repeat and repeat. Why spend all your time looking at me if your not gonna say anything? What's wrong with him lol why is he acting like such a weirdo.
