+1 yI don't think it is fair or wise for guys to enter into relationship with a woman like this. He ends up working and paying for EVERYTHING while you end up legally owning half of everything he works for. You have complete control and freedom to file for divorce and walk away with the kids, half his stuff, and make him continue to pay and support your dream life. I really don't see how any guy would want to sign up for that. If you want a life with me, you need to work and also contribute to it financially as well.

Some guys think smoking or doing drugs are ok too because they don't fully understand the risks.

Asker+1 yMoney isn't the most important things, as long as he earn enough to pay the bills and food.
I personally don't want to be a housewife because I like being able to be independent but I wouldn't judge anyone else who wanted to be one, it's really your choice. I understand that everyone is different so we all want different things out of life so you just gotta accept that...

All women should be self sufficient, everyone should
Asker+1 yWhy? Guys are ok with this so..
- +1 y
And when a guy decides he can trade you in for a younger, prettier model that can do all the same housework you do? What's your plan?
- +1 y
@Wonderer89 Agreed 😒
Asker+1 yHe wouldn't do it if he love me but I would just take a little job.
- +1 y
Who is going to hire you for a little job when you haven't had any experience for 10 years? When there are younger people with even more experience than you have that they could possibly pay less?
Asker+1 yThey would hire me, i see this happen a lot. Women who didn't worked for a long time because they were taking care of their child.
Nobody care who they hire when you clean room...- +1 y
So you'd aspire to be a middle aged woman cleaning rooms and living pay check to pay check?
- +1 y
You have a point @Wonderer89
- +1 y
Supporting a girl doesn't mean she is using the guy though.
If they divorced, she's legally entitled to half his assets and alimony forever depending on a few things. I remember when Kobe Bryants wife was talking about divorcing him, she would have gotten millions of dollars a year even after having half of his 100s of millions. - +1 y
@cavmanier you're missing the point completely.
Having no aspirations for oneself to be self sufficient and do well for just to live because they're looking for a man who will support them is absolutely using them. It's factoring in their earning ability to ensure they can cover the woman's share of living expenses otherwise they wouldn't be a prospective partner, because she has no support for herself.
After that; marriage and divorce in the real world doesn't exactly work like it's portrayed in Orange County.
Alimony is rarely for life; and even so he would have to earn enough to cover two households completely and realistically how many can do that? Alimony is also calculated on maintaining a lifestyle she's accustomed to for a period of time until she's able to take over that responsibility herself, but if she was never able to she'll get a lot less. It's meant to cater for lost earnings and experience while she was home with kids. She had no earning capacity, her value is low - +1 y
I was saying it's possible for a women to not have great earning power and still love a guy for himself rather than his money. I agree there is a motivation for a person without much money to prefer a person with money. I think we can say that about about rich people too. There's always some interest to marry into money.
I'm not a expert on alimony, but here in CA, as long as the people are married for 10 years (pro rated), the payer is obligated to pay until proof is shown they don't need the money or until remarried. I know people that pay that alimony to people that have been in relationships for years, but don't get married to keep the income. I think there's cohabiting laws too, but they're hard to prove. The guy even hired a private investigator for evidence. - +1 y
@cavmanier it's absolutely possible. But how often is that when she had no money, and no will to earn any when she can just marry up? When any man she chooses will have to have money, because she's not going to bring in any.
It will always be a factor then, and if you can't pay for yourself and need to rely on what is basically charity for the rest of your life it's absolutely using a man for his money. - +1 y
Well a girls income wouldn't matter much to me personally. Women definitely are more likely to want a guy with money. I didn't get the impression that his income was her prime factor. Of course he couldn't work a minimum wage job. You probably live in a urban area. Did you know there are places in the US (not sure where you live) that families survive on like a $15/hour wage? Yep on 30k a year. That's not uncommon, especially in the mid west and south. She could be in that situation and I'm not trying to say it's bad. Like I said, it's very common. It's partly why I'm investing in affordable housing.
She could have loved him and then wanted to capitalize on alimony once in that situation. Some do premeditate that, but not all. - +1 y
@cavmanier wanting to be a housewife; ie not having to work herself means that income is going to be a determining factor.
Not that she already has a man and is wondering if it's ok that he supports her.
Personal circumstances aren't in question here, and my point was that every person - regardless of gender - should be able to financially support themselves at any stage in their life. Having the option not to should life throw that opportunity at you; great. Take it.
But it should never be a goal to rely on someone else's charity to survive - +1 y
Even if she makes an income, most women want a guy with a good job or income right? That seems to be inelastic. Her having an income doesn't mean his income isn't important. I bet if we look at statistics, wealthy people tend to date other wealthy people. Poorer people just tend to spend less.
Right, but we just know she wants to be a housewife. We don't know that she couldn't support herself while looking for a guy or after a break up. We don't know that she is relying on finding a guy in order to be a housewife (to survive) or that it's what she's looking for ideally. - +1 y
@cavmanier being a housewife means zero income 99% of the time, I'm not talking about financial compatibility in other relationships so I really don't understand why we keep going outside the discussed situation?
And we do know that. Statistically, any woman who doesn't have a career, education or earning capacity before being a housewife is going to have extreme difficulty doing so after 10 years of having no job experience. How many employers are going to hire women - paying enough for her to be self sufficient on that sole income - who is 45 and has no work experience or references when they can hire a 20 year old that's been working at McDonald's since they were 15?
And I think we're both making too many assumptions on her personal situation and goals 😉, I'm trying to state my general opinion and feel I've done that so will leave it there 😊
Thanks for the good discussion tho
Asker+1 yYes, it's not like I can do much except that, maybe working in mcdonalds?
- +1 y
Don't sell yourself short sweetheart. We don't all need to be Einstein to obtain a moderate wage

+1 yIn my opinion that is the ideal woman. A housewife is a great compliment to the family and is very important to the husband, the kids, and their home. It creates a healthy family dynamic that makes everyone happy and everyone has their separate parts to take care of. This generation is pretty backwards in thinking in my opinion, because I've noticed that in the 50's divorce rates were at an all time low with happily married couples because of this dynamic... wow what a barbaric time that was (sarcasm). Now divorce is at an all time high because of what problems a man and a woman working can create since nobody is watching the kids, chores are left undone, and the woman is doing something that a man can do just as well, so not every part is fulfilled... You know cause that's so much better (sarcasm again). There's also the fact that college educated women sometimes don't even understand what they even went to college for, since they were really young at the time, and didn't know any better about their future. They are sometimes in a position where their degrees are useless since they can't find work for what they studied for, which means they wasted years of their life, stacked up debt that no man wants to pay off, and are probably bad at doing housework, making those women unfit to even be housewives. That's my take on it, and I know it's controversial to say this nowadays, but I disagree with a LOT of things that are considered OK in today's society, since it's creating degradation in society like in the movie Idiocracy.
00 ReplyIt be hard. I don't know. Depending on few things that as long we make each other happy. I'll do my best.

depends on many things. but for me prob not. expecially now a days having 2 people with even a little income can make a world of difference and make life easier. also some sort of higher education would be desirable it can greatly help you develope and learn and listen to new things people and ideas. I think not going to college or uni of some sort u miss out on a couple things.
Asker+1 yBut if she didn't have money to get in college?
- +1 y
like I said it depends on somethings but if she wanted to go she would save and go. I'm 23 and graduate college a year ago and just paid off my osap debt. I know its not easy but unless ur really going through though times money isn't much of a reason not to go.
Asker+1 yNot everyone like to go to school and all...

and I can accept that but one way or another highschool isn't enough. travel write I don't care at the start just do something to continue growing as a person and if u can turn that into an ok job also great!

You don't have to be intelligent to get a job. You can make the most of what you have. You can make a successful career of being an event planner, interior designer, jewler, social worker, you can even start a business of you own ego cupcake store/Resturant the opportunities are endless. And if you want to be a housewife so bad you can be one and you can do charity work so you have something to do and you won't even need the money.
