Girls, should a guy confirm a date with a girl?

I made plans with a girl I have been dating for awhile, she said yes and agreed on the date. However, the date was 3 weeks ahead. Additionally, I paid and reserved to go to this event and I have a week to cancel if I want a full refund. Should I confirm with her about the upcoming date? It is 3 weeks in advance so I'm assuming she would forget. But then again I don't want to act as desperate or needy.
