Long distance girlfriend is a dry texter?

We don't have a lot of time to talk on the phone nowadays so texting is our only option. It's the only way we talk but she never expands the conversation. Rarely asks me open ended questions. Mainly yes and no questions. I find myself contributing a lot of energy to the conversation while she gives barely anything. When I start noticing this I just start to mimic her energy level, but then the conversation just gets beyond stale and then I just feel like the only thing I'm accomplishing is making her bored of me. Yeah maybe my topics aren't very interesting to her but she isn't even trying. I can talk about most things, but she rarely contributes a topic that isn't about food or what we did that day. We love each other, but it's getting frustrating and just makes me want to give up on it entirely. I guess I'll just mimic her enthusiasm and energy and see what happens. If it pushes her away so be it. LDR aren't for me either way. Way too hard for me to be trusting.

well, communication is key. if you feel she isn't putting in the effort to make the conversation interesting, tell her, just don't blame her. simply say

"hey, to be honest, our conversations have been a bit bland. You okay? I just feel you aren't really invested."

That's a good idea, but she's kind of sensitive so saying something like that might make her insecure about her personality if she isn't doing it on purpose. On the phone it's different because I can just tell jokes or something and I have a easier time opening her up. She says she wants to keep talking to me, but I get the opposite sense from her at times. LDR are just ok many question marks.

how long has it been? sometimes if you really cannot see each other the distance becomes overwhelming. You both have to make efforts to make this work, try to talk to her about it maybe she didn't doit intentionally
