How early is it? I hate waking up early too, it makes me feel like shit for the entire day if I have to wake up earlier than 7 am. I hate it so much. So I don't think it's totally unreasonable, except it's kinda bad that he agreed to it to start with and then changed his mind.
I don't get why everyone else is acting like it's so bad though. You're an adult aren't you? It's not absolutely mandatory to pick up the person you're meeting at the airport... and you haven't even met in person before. However, it COULD mean some bigger problem, like he's a lazy person in general, but I'd just go with it, it doesn't seem like a big deal to me. My friends didn't pick me up at the airport when I flew into Europe ffs and it wasn't a big deal because I know they have lives too.
TBH he sounds like a gigantic tool. I would get away from him as fast as possible. People like that take take take and they never give. He'll suck you dry emotionally and then discard you like a used tampon once you stop accommodating him.
I would just Uber and forget that jerk. He sounds fake and he ditched you!!

That is some kind of BULLSHIT when you're flying all the way out to meet a guy. You'd seriously be a fool for going now. If he can't even make the effort to pick you up because "he's not a morning person" then he clearly gives less than two shits about you. This is the kind of guy who will end up laid on a couch gaming all day while you wash his socks and cook his meals. Swerve this nightmare now before it truly begins.
I've driven 7 hours for a girl and this man can't even wake up early for a day and pick you up? Remember this is the "Honeymoon stage", the best you'll get out of him because it's when people generally try to impress their S/O... He'll only get worse.
If he's 'just a friend', well, I can accept that. But if you consider him someone more so, this should be a deal breaker. You're the one flying in and he can't get his ass out of bed? Hmm... wish you luck.
That's a complete bullshit excuse. I have never heard of someone having stomach aches from waking up early (it may happen, I don't know, I'm not a doctor). I'd strongly reconsider meeting him at this point if I were you
