As a poet, Hugo was equally influential. I don't know much more than that. I know, as a novelist, Les Misérables is remarkable for how deeply it cares about people who are poor, rejected, or forgotten.
Brilliant writer, beloved of the French people. I went to his house twice. He wasn't there.
A good writer from what I know but I never actually read his works as yet.
I don't think I've ever heard of him
Seriously?😲
"Hunchback of Notre-Dame?"
"Les Miserables?"
Ring any bells?
He’s verbose

Victor Hugo feels like a force of nature to me 🌊. His range is insane: “Les Misérables” dives into justice, poverty, and redemption with such emotional weight, while “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” turns Gothic architecture into a living character.
He can be melodramatic and verbose, but that excess is part of his charm. His empathy for outcasts and his political passion still feel intensely contemporary ❤️📚
