Why are older women called COUGARS and looked down while It's thought to be totally normal to date much younger women as an older man?

Why there's a need to use that word if in the case of older men, they don't get called similar names?

The hate of older women like most hate towards women is from younger women.
Older women know what they don't hold guys to bs standards and don't play mind games. Bc of this guys want them. "Girl" know we want them and just want to hate.
Besides young girls My parents are the only ones that dislike me talking to older women. Bc they want me to have kids/ kids of my own

Women have a prime fertility period, the ultimate purpose of dating is to find a mate. Once they are past that there is no reason to really be dating beyond having fun.

Men choose younger women because of that period I referred to so it’s not the same thing.

I would say it might be biological. Meaning, men usually are more attracted to and want to get with younger women, since youth is one of the hallmarks of attraction for men. So, in a way it doesn’t make too much sense on a biological analysis why a younger man would want to be with a much older woman, but obviously humans aren’t as simple as biological definitions in a textbook and have evolved past certain things as well.

Because it's unusual for men to pursue older women and for women to pursue younger men, not the other way around.

It's not really looked down on, "cougar" is usually generally a neutral or positive remark, some people can't wait to congratulate women on the grounds of "sexual empowerment" -- and older guys aren't celebrated, often they're treated poorly with distrust or suspicion if the women is deemed "too young for him" by others (who often aren't involved in the relationship and don't really have any business getting involved.).

Nobody "looks down" on cougars. Even female teachers who rape little boys are idolized and worshipped instead of ostracized and imprisoned like male teachers who behave similarly with young girls. I don't know where you're getting your information, but you're way off base. Men who prefer younger women are seen as predatory, and inadequate to women their own age anyway. Women who prefer younger men are widely viewed as "liberated".

Such men commonly get called "pedophiles" or "creeps who should date women of their age", regardless of how old said woman actually is.

My main question is as to why people found it necessary to think of a word for older women and It's broadly used, while there's no such word for men, or is not commonly used. I am curious about psychology behind it.

I don't know, because I personally think it's okay for older women to date younger men. You'd have to ask the women that wouldn't date a younger man or anyone else who doesn't think it's a good idea.
