That was in 2nd. grade. I had a crush on my teacher.

I always tried to be the last one to leave class so I could shake his hand. I was seated in the first row so I could have a better look at him.

I found him so nice looking. He must have been about 26 I would guess.

On my birthday, I took all my courage and asked him if he would come to my birthday party.

He politely declined because he said he had class but I know now that he did not want to embarrass me by coming to a birthday party where only kids would attend and make me look weird by inviting the teacher. But he gave me a book as a birthday present and that was a yellow paperback "Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn".

To this day, I have this book among my most precious ones on a special shelf where I keep memorabilia of important events in my life.

He has since left the city and I was never able to find out where he moved to.

That was my one and only crush in my life. I believe he was my first love!
