I don't think 'chase' is the correct word here. Guys lose interest if the woman is too needy/desperate. I see a lot of women ask guys, 'why didn't you text me back' and similar questions like this. No one finds clingy people attractive because it makes the woman seem like she doesn't have a life of her own that goes beyond a guy. If women want men to be attracted to them, then they need to stop making guys the centre of their world and start living life on their own first.

Men actually don't like how women make us do all the work. To us you're nice and you're in, and many of you will write this off as a bad point. "Oh men are so simple you just act nice to them and they'll be all over you," but what's wrong with us wanting to be around pleasant people? With many women you expect us to approach you, smooth talk you, convince you to allow us to contact you in the future, then it's on us to contact you - neither too quickly nor too delayed - often enough but not too often. Many of you still expect us to pay for you if we go out (fortunately I think this has been getting better) even though you're working a full time job as well. Then we have to deal with idiots out there who tell women that guys "enjoy the chase." The fuck we do. What kind of idiot do you need to be to think that way? Treat us like normal human beings. We want to talk to you, we want you to talk to us as well.
I HONESTLY, REALLY like, when women are assertive, and tell me, because I don't always get the subtle hints!! You have no idea what an AMAZING COMPLIMENT it can be, for a guy to have a lady come over, introduce herself, and start a conversation!!
We KNOW, how hard that is to do, and the fear of rejection, or laughs!! When she does that, it's like SUPER-EXTRA Bonus points to her, for being that confident, being that kind of assertive woman (LOVE THAT!!), and taking the chance!!

I think if the feelings were mutual to begin with then it wouldn’t have mattered who chased who.. I know the “guys are supposed to chase the girl” but I don’t think women should hide their feelings when they really like someone. I think a woman should express her feelings to a guy as long as she isn’t doing it in a desperate way. I used to believe the guy should chase the girl until I started talking to this guy and I was also very sexually attracted to him but it didn’t work out. I do believe that girls can scare a guy away with too much interest! I was indeed too easy. But it honestly didn’t work out because I liked him more than he liked me. Feelings have to be mutual. BUT if there is a guy who isn’t showing you much attention, back off a bit and be more mysterious. It’s all a game tbh

3. If she texts first, (wait x minites to respond and only send one message, then put phone down);

Personally I think it's cruel and insensitive and I don't do it but it works. The problem is... female dating coaches are telling the same thing to females.

Well I think the trick is a balance. As a woman you show interest and then walk away. That way you picked him but he still has to chase you. That gives you both what you want. If after you let him know you’re interested and he doesn’t chase you - forget him he didn’t like you. A man that likes you even a little will chase you when you show the slightest interest.

And women who chase guys to have sex are seen as unattractive. Men are supposed to be easier than that. My guess on why you began to think she was ugly is that you subconsciously thought "why didn't he want to have sex with her? Why did she have to chase him? There must be something wrong with her." and you began to look for flaws.
Being chased or chasing is fine, but if the person of your affection doesn't reciprocate it wouldn't matter anyways.

having said that, i think very little guys would actually be deterred by a girl chasing them. i would say if it appears to you as if he's avoiding you, that means he didn't like you to begin with. it's not that you "messed it up" by being explicit about you liking them.
I think that women should be able to talk to men. Most men don't understand the fliring code of women. So opening the conversation is great. But chasing a men... it's as creepy for a women than a men. Women, don't take it personal if a men say no, most of the time it as nothing to do with you. Men are not used to reject politely like you. ;-)
No! But the key is make sure he's interested to begin with. I knew a girl for 2 years, sure i thought she was attractive. But i didn't think we were compatible so i was never going to ask her out. Then she started spending more and more time with me and that hooked me.

I think it's same for men and women. If they seem too clingy or keen it can be off putting... But too far the other way and they will give up on you.

Yes they do. I would compare it with market's mindset. The things that are harder to obtain are more desired usually but in some cases its about basic needs. So if its mutual, the guy will react properly.

Men chase women because women make them do it and oftentimes without doing so, they wind up alone. Men don't get interest from other people like women do. Many of us absolute hate the crap that many women make us go through, but we do it anyway because it beats being alone. Women give other women advice that "men love the chase." We HATE the chase. We mostly want you to be clear and direct. Some guys will be willing to chase you, but it's a bad first impression for you to make us do it. It makes you come across as self-centered/self-important, needy, etc., to think that you get to sit back and fuck with us. If you don't like a guy it's fine for you to not date him, of course. But for you to like a guy and think, ahh, I'll make him work for it, why should the guy have to deal with that? How would you like it if men did that to you?
No, while it depends on the guy, I feel in general it is very beneficial to go after the guy you like.
