Definattly. Stop chasing him and find other guy or guys but dont be needy to them. After some time approch him again and you will see that he will comply to you more. He will try to regain your attention and value, give it to him anf than when he dont expect it take it away and continue with that guys. Wait for him approching you , give him time based on your intuiton and than if he doesn't approach you approch him. Make it unpredictable when he can loose you and have you, make him work for your time, make him chase you.(*after seeing you with other guys and not giving attention to him he may be colder than usually, but thats just a sign of jealousy)(*make it subtler and more natural, the more it looks normal and he isn't aware of what are you doing the more likly he will fall in this loop)(*dont look for his reaction during the process when you think he can't see you)
You shouldn't stop giving him attention completely, because you are giving the clear sign that you do not have any interest in him resulting he will get distanced from you and look for something else. You shouldn't follow him around like that either, you do not have to find an excuse either you just can ask to do some activities together. If he agrees in doing so it's more of a middle line and if it is fun he will start asking to do some things as well

I echo what several guys here have said. If you back off, he'll think you've lost interest and move on. It's risky.
A similar mistake that some people make is to make the crush jealous, hoping that will inspire action. It can get the crush to give up and walk away, too.
Can you drop hints, e. g., ask his friends if he's seeing anyone? Friends of a crush sometimes influence the crush to act.
I can't speak for all guys, but it wouldn't make me. I don't like to "chase" period, so if I'm not giving you any attention, it means I'm not really into you. But it might make some guys? Depends on the guy and how he feels about you.
