The women seem to think this is meant as a HR policy rather than advice for guys about how to walk on eggshells.
I recognise the need for it, I also recognise the craziness of it and what really seems a bit fucked is that many of the women are unironically like "yeah, that's good, do that."
I realize how fucked up these rules are and I, too, am shocked how the women are love these rules. I don't think the women realize that these rules are due to the fear women and false accusations have created.

They don't seem to get the gravity we feel on our end for it to make sense to recommend other guys to act that way. They could argue that men are just fearmongering to other men if it weren't for the women who endorse it as if it's wholesome.
Spot on correct. The female opinions here tell me the rules are really necessary.
#3 makes plenty of sense but not for the reason written. Work isn’t a place to discuss dating life or sexual experiences etc that’s just weird and obviously nobody paying their employees would find them spending their time there discussing that as a good thing.
Well if your not part of said conversation it is non of your deam buisnes what said conversation is about. Different people are comfortable with different kind of chats. If you aren't and its not meant for you leave.

Lol on my lunch break i can talk about the hell i want as long as my talking partner whats to talk about it to.
One thing I would like to see banned at work is how often women gather and openly talk about how much they hate their husbands and boyfriends. Almost every day I hear women at the copier, in the break room, near the Keurig machine; gathered to openly bitch about men in their life. This is something men never do.
You won’t find me arguing for anyone women or men to be allowed/ accepted to talk about personal life stuff like relationship problems, sex, religion, etc I think there’s a time and a place and the work environment makes no sense for that.
Rules for survival in a kind of combat. Makes sense. Once the communists take over a group like women or some race or other they become weapons for the communists to use against the rest of us. So yes treat them like armed land mines or booby traps. That's pretty much all they are now.

No, they balance out males. :-) It is psychological proven that women at work are peacemakers there, not because of those feminists 3.0 but because of that the opposite sex is around. Very nice to have women at work!

Yeah, those rules are sensible if you want to protect yourself from accusations. Avoid them as much as possible, but you can't discriminate, so avoid everyone equally. Do absolutely as much as possible from email and Skype, and otherwise be as reclusive as possible.
All of that is absolutely ridiculous. As if I needed rules from someone because I can't stand up to idiots? I can fight my own fights. Oh, and I would hurry to get a job far away from that place.

Okay... personally I don't work in the corporate world, but I know A LOT of people who do. None of them have rules like this, or even guidelines. They just talk to people like ya know... people. Nothing bad has happened yet.
If there is a loony chick at your work by all means don't touch her with a 10 foot poll, but most ladies aren't cuckoo.
The problem with posts like this is it takes away from women how have actual been harrassed and assaulted. You are making it out to be like all women are crazy and out to get men, we are not!

You are completely missing the point. These are not rules given TO women. These are recommendations given to men to protect men FROM women. At age 16, I'm sorry, but you simply don't have a clue about how the corporate world works.
When a single call to HR by an angry woman can cost a man his job and ruin his career, it is best to give these same women some distance.

I am unable to hear her due to the cyber crickets sounding off. They sure do sound off a lot. Use logic and facts on females and the next thing you hear are the cyber crickets sounding off.
They make sense to me because well you are following those asinine rules I will be holding the door open for the ladies complimenting them on everything appropriate and asking them out what sucking down free drinks at the office Christmas party so please play by those rules don't worry about a thing I'll be keeping an eye on on the womenfolk.

Wow. Most of this sounds ridiculous. I'm not saying troubles don't happen, but if these are the rules to play by in professional office environment, than women seriously need to grow up. Or, those women are just looking for any reason to complain. Drinks after hours, not at work location, is not working and that HR department is way over-reaching. If they aren't paying for you time, they have no business telling what to be doing. There are lines and boundaries, but come on, it sounds like these employes and jobs spoken of are located in Russia.
I find most of these overly excessive. I work with women all the time. Just simply be respectful and the boundaries will become evident. If its worry of being thought of as harassment, then just simply keep your eyes to yourself. Dont look at their butts, dont look at their chest, dont look at their legs. Just simply dont be creepy and just go about your business. They are there to work and collect a paycheck like everyone else is.
I feel you men, At my workplace i can not only chat with woman working there but also freely talk about relationships and as advices. But i can perfectly see where and how these rules/guidelines are formed. Also im not responsible for her well being, if she thinks im being rude she must tell it to me, sop far even while heavy drinking no complains.
I just hope it will stay American thing and won't come to Europe.

Sure you can admire someone's beauty but ogling them is a different thing entirely. Natural, yes it is, but it can also cause unwanted problems.

We are different what one may take as offensive, for other its completly normal. I am not assuming anything? I'm simply saying women are in the workplace for the same reasons men are, and if men complain about women being "distracting" or women claiming men are objectifying them with a single look, it's not hard to simply not to look.

I heard those rules the first time. Still I don't talk about sex at work, it doesn't belong there anyway unless your employer is in the "horizontal" business... And I think it makes us more look like losers than it actually helps. Just be respectful as usual, else your professionalism is questioned. No need for over-doses "rules" (who is being ruled here?).

When I am on the job I always conduct myself in a professional manner and only talk about work related subjects. But even that will not protect you from a crazy woman who makes a false accusation and the HR feminazis that side with her and destroy his life.

Last option seems very accurate to me. I don't think there's much of a deal dealing with women outside of work but I really try my best to avoid them when I'm working. You don't want to get your future compromised.
Some say these rules are a little excessive... I say they aren't excessive enough. Most of the comments from women show they are living under a rock...
Is the atmosphere really that bad where you work, or are they just disclaiming liability in case anyone raises harassment issues?
From a 'sane mind' perspective - there are women who have been ticked off by men (or other women) - it should be treated as a disability really/they should be recommended therapy - but you could argue that not triggering them is of both corporate and human/societal value (though that much avoidance of contact is also bad for social functioning and staff morale)
Why are women treated like animals? "Never approach from behind, only from the front" lol. Reminds me when I was instructed to how approach a horse.
Almost all of these are ridiculous in my opinion. Common sense and respect should be a think and whatever happens after work, should not be work related.
Women are not "animals", in the corporate world they are dangerous monsters who can destroy your life with a single phone call.

Look, whether I've worked in an office space or not doesn't matter. Most of these rules would never be enacted. Companies main concern is making money - not paying for two different flights with different rental cars and separate everything. Believe it or not, micromanaging a workers personal life is illegal and companies aren't allowed to do that. Not to mention the fact that the entire thing represents women as some big mean scary thing which is singling a group out based on their sex - discrimination.

@AllThatSweetJazz The company pays for the flights, hotel, and one rental car. The advice is, if you are required to travel with a woman, get your own rental car (give the company provided one to her) and do your traveling to/from events solo. Do not spend time driving with a woman.
