I'm a very calm mellow person but today at work a younger female coworker got upset with me based on my judgment call and started to call me 'a little bitch', telling me I was not doing things properly and generally overreacting to a very minor situation.
Since she's was heated I gave her some time to cool off. But this girl is 5 years younger than me and straight up tried to play with my dignity as a man. Especially when you don't know the person well, don't make assumptions. Generally men will keep their cool when a woman goes off on them, but always remember the very real difference in physical ability. A mouse doesn't go off trying to fuck with lions and tigers. And generally a lion or tiger won't waste it's energy on a mouse.
Treat us with the respect you want to be treated with, cause we'll only put up with your shit for so long.

I read the question and the situation associated with it in the description and I am just trying to understand why the OP, GAVE the woman time to calm down after insulting them that way? As opposed to reporting that to HR? I wonder if they have a very close rapport in order to let such disrespect slide because I would be reporting that with swiftness. Now to address the question more directly, as a black woman who works in the tech field and prior to that hospitality. I can say I have only seen a man be emasculated once while in Tech by a woman who held the lead position for the team the young man was in so she was mad with power essentially. Other than that, I have always seen socially inept nerdy men try to belittle others more on the job to overcompensate for their insecurity.
Regardless, sorry you had to experience that, and I hope you do not internalize that nasty underserving instance as you deserve to be treated that way.
I was a vice-president of an international youth organization and I tried to make men feel like I needed their help, flirted a bit, made them feel better and they did things much more enthusiastically. Kind of like proving me how they appreciated my words and they felt happy to hear, how much they helped me.
For the girls, I treated them friendly as well. But they already did everything enthusiastically.
I understand your frustration, I don’t believe women are mice and men are lions though, and if it’s about physical ability, one of the reasons that made people smarter is our inability to be as strong as other animals.
So, females have been physically weaker than males and therefore they developed other things to succeed. Brains over physical power.

What she did was very rude, why not talk to her and tell her you won’t forgive her talking to you like this and she should never repeat the same mistake again.
Just gotta let it go bro. If she acts that way for long enough, sooner or later she’ll get reported to HR. One of my old bosses took a “psychology for the workplace” class that taught him how he can manage different people based on position, attitude, and sex. It was very helpful when I had an unforgettable situation happen to me. It might suck, but if you have the patience, find out why that co-worker acts the way she does. When we take time to experiment with how people perceive information, sometimes we can understand why they act so outlandishly.
You lost me at the end with the mouse and tiger/lion remarks. That fact that you chose to use that language indicates to me that you are misogynistic. You were weren't specific enough with your explanation as to why she lashed out at you, and obviously non of us were present so we can't give you a solid opinion about exactly what happened. But the fact that you were offended enough to get on this app, make this post, make misogynistic remarks, and insinuate that all women behave this way says a lot about you and it's not a good look.
@curiousscorpio89 (1) Dude I'm not here to be a Saint, I don't think I'm perfect person. I posted this question just to unpack how I was feeling and do some reflection.
(2) The analogy at the end is somewhat of an exaggeration. The physical difference between men and women is not always so diametrically opposed, and their are plenty of women who play the role of a lion or tiger. What I was bringing attention to is a basic power dynamic. People often take for granted that because we live in society they can simply ignore the difference in physical ability, but as an mma fighter you never take that lightly. Dominate and Subordinate. It's a deep rooted concept in nature.
(3) That 'judgment call' was about whether a particular person was in danger. We are first responders. It's up to use our discretion and make the best decision possible.
(4) It's rare to see a man make a woman feel like she's not feminine, desirable, valuable etc, especially to a young attractive woman who knows that she has that worth.
(5) It's incredibly common for woman to attack a man's identity. Common place expressions like 'Man Up' 'Act like a man' 'I thought you were a man not a little bitch' etc. I have nothing against women bro, I love em to pieces I just don't think they realize how often they do this kind of insult subconsciously. Then men get into this space where they feel they can't express their emotion or be free about how they feel or they always need to appear strong and all the other cliche bullshit.

(2) We consulted with our higher ups, and had a discussion about discretion and judgement calls.

There was this very masculine man at my job who slept with all the pretty young things.

Women try to feel big when they know that they cannot compete. Like somedays before, I was in line for train ticket at a counter. A women pushed a person from his position to get closer to the counter. And then said "If you feel brave, push me fam!". So the man pushed her back. It was rainy that day. People were coming from outside and the ground was a wet and dirty. She fell on the dirty ground. The man had a serious eye contact and the women did not say anything. These things happen.

In the workplace, you are professionals, not men and women. Unless you have a power over her (hierarchy wise), you can't do shit. If you slap her, she can file a case against you as physical assault.

I agree, although most the time I don't feel it's malicious or vindictive it's just from a lack of respect and basic dignity. They really never feel the fear that if they something incredibly callous or harsh that someone will slap them. Lol but in 2022 one slap in a heated moment is basically assault.
