From my experience you have to date quite a lot to get a few that you really want to spend your life with I've seen lots of young people settle for what's available and it didn't turn out well

Dating is to find someone you're compatible with, not someone you necessarely want to be in a relationship with. There are people who would be fine to just be fuckbuddies with no strings attached - they wouldn't meet outside of dating.
That and what if a person just wants sex but no relationship? What if they don't think they're in any position to be in a relationship due to various circumstances in their life? That still does not take away their desire for sex, so what are they supposed to do?
