But every now and then I do like to have my space.
I don't know why I get this way but sometimes it just feels overwhelmed with it all, even occasionally with holding hands.

Perhaps you should explain about how you value cuddling and what it means to you. He probably just doesn't see it as being as big a deal, or thinks it's something you would do less often. Find out. Communication is key!
