If a guy says this is he just saying he doesn’t want anything serious with you?

I’ve been friends with a guy for over a year now, and recently we’ve started to get closer. However, he has a girlfriend. They’ve been having difficulties for a couple of months now and he’s confided in me a lot of the times.

Recently things have been getting a bit flirty between us and we both know we have some sort of feelings for each other, but obviously not acting on them because he’s in a relationship.

However, the other day he told me he feels like things are going to end after quarantine, as it nearly ended the other night & he’s just had enough. During that conversation he said If it does end he’ll just be single for a while.

i agreed and said that’s most prob the best idea as you don’t want to drag your baggage over into your next relationship. Which he agreed.

My question is was he just saying that to let me know he doesn’t want to jump straight into things or to basically say he doesn’t want anything serious with me?

It could be both. it may not want a relationship with you or he just made generally not want to jump into a relationship. I think you should take him at his word that it has more to do with wanting to be single than it does with not wanting to be with you. You can let him know that you want to be his girlfriend if that's what you're interested in otherwise you'll have to sit by and watch him be intimate with other women while you are just his friend

Cut him some slack, he is in a dead end relationship that still needs some sorting. He might like you but it's good that he's not rushing. It would be unfair for you if he seeks a relationship with you right away as you might just be a rebound then. Give him some time and just be a friend if he needs it.

He’s saying that to give you a green light to fuck him, but also to let you know that he wouldn’t want to date you.

I suggest, move on. He doesn't feel for you. He doesn't love you. If he felt for you, he would have seeked a serious relationship of course.  Believe me blindly, just walk away!
