My best guy friend has a crush on me?

The last couple of months my best friend (lets call him C) has been avoiding me and I didn't know why. Then the day before summer vacation he tells me that he has a crush on me. Our mutual friend (lets call her H) has openly had a crush on him for months and even asked him to be her boyfriend. C rejected H, but I just thought he wasn't ready for a relationship. Since he said he had a crush on her I thought that they would date eventually. Now he says that he no longer has a crush on H and that he has has had a crush on me for 7 months. He asked me not to tell H about his crush and I dont know if I should. It would break her heart. I'm hella confused and dont know what to do? PS. We are all 14 years old.

I feel that if anyone is to tell H, it should be C, not you. If he likes you, he should make it clear that he likes you and properly (and politely) reject H. It's a different story though, if you like him back. If you do, and would like to start something with C, you should make it clear to H that you actually like him too. But it's ultimately still up to C who he wanna date. There will definitely be some ugly feelings, especially at your age, but if none of you can make things clear without hiding feelings, then you're probably not ready to date.
