Is it too forward to ask a guy on a dating app for their social media?

I'm I making myself too accessible by asking to chat outside of the dating app? Is that something I should leave up to the guy to ask?

I'm not a fan of the dating app atmosphere, so I prefer to talk with someone I'm interested in getting to know outside of the app. However, I know some guys prefer to take the initiative. Will this make a guy think I'm trying to pursue him?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to "make a move" or pursue anyone. I just wanted to continue a very platonic conversation elsewhere. But I can see how this can come off the wrong way.

I've had a few women move it out of the dating app chat and into something else mostly because they "don't like the way the app works"
I kind've have to agree... I think it was Bumble that, if you had the app running in the background, it wouldn't give you an alert that you had a new message...

The app I'm using is full of anoyying ads and the chat features are so limited. I want to continue our conversation but I also don't want him to think I'm trying to pursue him.

Then just explain that.
"Hey, can I get your IG/FB/Snap/whatever? I keep getting bombarded by ads on this app..."
or
"Can we move this somewhere else? Chat features are limited here"
Chances are, he's having the same issues you are unless he pays for the app :D

I don’t think it implies you’re thirsty and I don’t understand how someone could even come up with that conclusion so I’m having trouble with even having to think about how that mindset would happen 😂

Depends on the guy really. But guys with understanding will know why you would rather do this and would rather do that as well. Just like someone on here would rather talk to me in a different place because she didn't feel comfortable here. It's all cool really.
May come a little bit forward tbf on a dating site but i am sure no one minds that.

Not really. Only because of the reason you mentioned though. If it's just to have a different place to talk then ask for some other messaging service. I know that's a bit of a difficult one since all of the messaging platforms are basically social media. Just one of the many reasons Skype was handy.

If your intention is to actually get to know the guy and not just try to get a +1 following and a free source of validation, then go for it. If you're just trying to pass time by fishing for validation, then do us all a favor and stop talking alltogether.

It's not too forward, infact it's less forward than straight out inviting him out. It's better to just invite him out. You could subtly introduce him to your social media on the date by showing him your app and asking if he has it then plugging it into his phone. It worked on me, another girl added me to her social media without inviting me out and i later realised she had alterior motives. Social media can ruin a friendship and relationship. Be real, get to know him in person.

Depends on how long have you two known each other on the dating app and more importantly, how well do you two get along. It's okay to do so in my opinion, if you feel comfortable enough and have gotten along with them well.

Im not taking it the wrong way. Too many people think that as soon as you ask for a number or a facebook access they think you want to date. What happened to being friends first? Friends is usually the start of any and every relationship. So no i do not think it is too forward.
