You don't be friendly with such people. But you do learn to be courteous and Sybil. At the end of the day remember the key was co-workers. Which means these are people you work with. You are not obligated to be their friend neither are you obligated to continue to strive with them every single day. You are there to work. And if they don't want to cooperate with you, then you bring it up to who you are under. If it's completely affecting your life and your ability to work, then you are better off finding another job when available. You don't have to tolerate abuse or harassment. But do know that if it's not much of a concern as long as they don't interfere with your job, then just continue to do what you got to do but be civil. You don't have yourself be overly confident person, but most importantly don't stoop to their level.
