I'm worried that I waited too long to ask out the girl I like. What do I do?

I'm in high school, and I used to be extremely shy so I don't have a lot of dating experience. I've liked this girl for a while, and I found out from her friend that she really liked me too. This was back in early December. I really wanted to ask her out in person, because I like her a lot and I want it to seem like I care about her, except I was never really able to bring myself to do it. The last 2 months I have had a ton of school work and I needed wisdom teeth surgery, and because of this I kept making excuses for why I hadn't asked her out yet. I still really like her, and we still hang out as friends, but I'm worried that after all this time she stopped liking me. I was told by her friend, back in December, that I was the only guy she's ever had a crush on, so I think there's a chance that she still likes me. I'm planning on asking her out on a date tomorrow, but because of how long it's been I'm worried. How long do girls usually wait before they move on from liking someone? Also any general advice would be greatly appreciated :)
