How to know if a guy is serious about you?

I've known this guy for a month. We text everyday and had few phone calls. He text me first a lot and sometimes he text me for no reason and just to get my attention. He is on vacation now and staying at his hometown which also my town. So we went for 2x date. Its not really a 'date' since we are busy so we met after work and went for short shopping and dinner. We had a good time and he so sweet and a very talkative guy where we can talk of a lot of things. He insisted like 2-3 times to bring me home so that I can dinner with him and his parents. I declined because I'm not ready and very shy. So he end up only meeting my dad when he send me home. After another week, he will be back to his working town that took 5 hours from here. And I wonder if he see me as potential partner with his action.
