Here's a tip for you younger guys. Learn how to cook one thing really well, let's say chicken, which is relatively easy, then invite the girl over for to your place for dinner. When she finds out that you cooked the entire meal yourself and it was "just for her", you'll be so far above the other guys she's dated that you'll practically be on a pedestal... unless of course she's been to my place first (I make an amazing pork roast). The pay off for that $8 chicken is huge! Now that she's decided to stay the night with you, be sure to have an individually wrapped toothbrush on hand along with a bar or two of foo-foo soap: make it something with oatmeal- women are nuts for oatmeal soaps (who can know why?).
I've been working this dinner scam for decades. Whether the woman is 20 or 60, the number of guys who've actually prepared a meal for her is so few (if any) that you can't help but to stand out and score.00 Reply

+1 yExpect her too? The problem was having two exceptional Cooks in a relationship, with the occasional fighting over who gets access to the kitchen. In some relationship scenarios, one partner will concede ownership and authority over the kitchen to the other, oftentimes the woman gets the kitchen. In my last serious relationship, we had to negotiate terms on who would have the right to cook the meals and how often. We both had to concede that everything the two of us cooked was delicious, and about the only thing we ever really fought about was placement and organization of the cooking utensils. We both had the same attitudes toward prepping, storage rotation, and preparation of the food items, but who got that seventh day out of an odd numered week, with dominion over the kitchen on that 7th. day, ended in a stalemate, in which we both grudgingly had to assist each other on that seventh day. The fighting and friction created by that situation, resulted in awesome make up sex afterwards 😁.

If I get married one day and I’m working and my husbands at home, I will expect from him that he will cook dinner. It goes both ways. If I’m home and he’s at work all day then I will do the same.
With that being said - it’s always a nice thing to cook a good meal for them, but it shouldn’t be an expectation.00 Reply

+1 yCooking isn't something I expect, but it is something I would appreciate. The word 'expect' suggests to me that cooking would be a requisite for a successful partner, but I don't see it that way personally. I can cook for myself as need be. I don't see why having a girlfriend implies requiring someone to cook for me.
The only time I'd expect to have a meal cooked for me is...
1.) We did something extra long term (e. g. moving in together) and we came to an agreement she would primarily take care of cooking on whatever days. I say primarily, because even if she took up the main cooking duty, there would surely be days she didn't feel well, or was busy doing whatever, and then I'd be up for the responsibility.
2.) She said that she would cook for "___ day." I mean, if she said it, I'm going to believe it. Without coming to any agreement like point 1, I imagine it'd likely be something where we cook for each other on special days (e. g. each others birthdays).10 Reply
+1 yI don't mind if I had a girl that cooked for me but it isn't expected of her. Like if she walked into the kitchen and made herself something I wouldn't expect her to make me anything but wouldn't turn it down. It is not her responsibility to feed me, I am a grown man and can feed myself. I mean I am single now for 4 years and have done perfectly fine cooking and feeding myself.

+1 yI am fine with cooking, if she is willing and wants to cook she can go for it, but I am perfectly happy to cook :) I don’t mind cooking and even if I did mind it and she didn’t want to either I would still cook for her, there is no reason to follow gender roles, it should just be a team effort :)

+1 yI think it depends on the person if they love cooking then the kitchen is their thing. But if you both like to cook i think it should be 50/50 like i cook one night you cook the next. My ex use to say the womans place is in the kitchen tables turned he learned the hard way that is not the case amymore. #realitycheck.
00 ReplyYes, but only sometimes. I don't even care if it's order out or something. Just any decent food. I suck at cooking, so we can't BOTH make awful food. At least one of us needs to be good at it, and it's not gonna be me. I don't mind doing the dishes for her though (I like to pre-soak, so she better be cool with that).

how does cooking food for your partner make you a slave and makes him disgusting and nasty?
Personally not really. I was always surprised when a girl would enthusiastically cook for me. I’m so used to doing everything by myself and growing up whoever was cooking made enough for all people present so I just accepted that as the norm.
I would expect a girl to pull her weight, but if it makes her happy to cook for me then I’d be more than happy to to have her cook for me lol. I like to cook though and experiment so I would definitely be doing some cooking as well10 Reply313 opinions shared on Dating topic. I let a g/f live with me without paying rent, being a nesting partner kind of thing and she saw it as a way to contribute. We are both foodies and got things delivered like hello fresh to make it easier since that's like a half-hour of prep+cooking. There are a mix of nights we cook together, or I'd wash the dishes after kind of thing. That's a better way to look at it as shared responsibility and just figure out what will work between.

+1 yWe cook for each other, We each have our own preparations that we excel at, so depending on what we want, that determines who does the cooking. Besides that, we prefer to cook and eat at home anyway. It's not only way less expensive, but we can control the food source, the ingredients and we have better wine than when we go to restaurants. It's a win-win all around, every day.

+1 yYes, of course. SOMEBODY needs to cook, right?
So, should your boyfriend change the oil in your car? Or wash it?
So now we have to ask, do you have ANY idea how to KEEP a man? Do you know what they need and want to stay loyal and in love with you? Perhaps we're at a learning moment here.00 Reply - 2.7K opinions shared on Dating topic.
+1 yI had a girlfriend who reheated leftovers in the microwave once... that’s the only girlfriend who did anything that can remotely be referred to as cooking. So, no, I do not expect any of them too since I came to the realization years ago that women do not actually cook.
00 Reply Depends on the relationship dynamic.
I usually go for submissive types who cook clean and suck dick without have to be told.
That said if she wants to be the big earner and free up my time to cook then cool, I used to work as a chef so I'm down for a role reversal.00 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yWell, I do love the lasagna she can cook... but she actually doesn't like to cook. I can and don't mind it... However, I rather not and that is why we have a live-in housekeeper who cooks, does the laundry, keeps our house clean and even changes our sheets
and all that. Problem solved.00 Reply- 322 opinions shared on Dating topic.
+1 yI expect my girlfriend to contribute equally to the relationship. That means that if I work full time and do the laundry and she works part time, she should be cleaning and cooking. The only issue I have with women cooking is that I’ve never been in a relationship where I want the better cook.
10 Reply Nope, if you want to cook than cook if not ill put on my jurassic park apron and make something for both of us. I would hate to think that my ability to cook would go to waste if I had someone to cook for.

+1 yYeah, it's so cute when a girl cooks for a guy. Food made for you by a women is so much better "tasting". It just feels good, and you feel loved. I also like to cook, so I would obviously return the favour sometimes, or cook together. Besides, even if she isn't a great cook, she can learn, since I consider it rather useful for when she becomes a mother.
00 Reply I don't expect it, but it is a nice gesture and makes me feel appreciated. I believe women who like to cook can use cooking as a way to show love and be nurturing. Feeding someone is nurturing by definition. My first experience of love was being nursed by my mother. I think that's also why men love breasts so much. They represent love as well as sex.
00 ReplyIt's strange how people make such a big thing of "cooking for her/him". For me it's mixed and we don't care too much. I like cooking so if I have time I prepare meal, if she has time then she prepares and if none of us can prepare anything then we order something.

But she still cooks more often than I do, as my job takes a lot of time especially in the evening-night.00 Reply No, neither do I want her to. She is extremely messy and doesn’t clean up properly at all; if she cooks I have a lot more cleaning to do than if I cook.
