What are your "Non Negotiables" in dating, relationships and life? (Page 2)

1. No kids or desire to have kids in the future. I really do not want to be a parent so kids are a deal breaker
2. Homophobia, transphobia, racism, xenophobia, misogyny, etc are all deal breakers
3. No cheating
4. Physical, emotional, and sexual abuse will have me out the door with no second chances
5. Inability to talk through problems. I cannot handle a relationship with someone who gets angry/just shuts down and refuses to talk things out when they are upset or we are struggling

16 years ago I never would have had the same answers I do now. It's really amazing the things you can justify and defend after you build a life together and have kids. People can say it's toxic to stay together for kids but it's so much harder when you're actually put in that situation.

It would be wise to figure out what specifically disturbs your peace of mind. Every relationship has its headaches and things to work through but knowing what exactly you won't tolerate helps weed out wrong people from you much sooner.
