I know it is hard and there is a lot of fear and danger, but it is not going to get better no matter how many excuses you make for him.

  Meaning letting the abuse continue. Saying nothing allows it to continue regardless if she is the one being abused or someone else in the house is. I know saying "just go tell someone" is WAY easier said than done, but doing nothing isn't going to make it any better either.

  If a guy is violent to a woman he probably gets his ass beat by guys on a regular basis so he tries to compensate for it by hitting woman. Just tell some dude to beat his ass, simple ass that, it will fix the problem he is probably super weak

  If he is made to look weak by someone else, he is going to last out on those he perceives as weaker to reestablish himself as a dominant figure.
  
  Aside from that, if the woman is even allowed to have male friends, she is putting her friend into a dangerous situation as well.
