This might not always be the case though, age barely matters when the two get along very well. It is all about the level of maturity that bring two persons together. I believe that the right person for you is the right person, regardless of age.

The entire point of dating someone your own age is to maximize the chances of a cultural, psychological, intellectual, and physical compatibility. In a civilized relationship these things are important. However, such compatibilities can still be obtained with any age gap: it's just much less likely.

My boyfriend is 22 years older then me and it's easily the best relationship of my life. I've had 4 boyfriends before him (all my age) and they were all way too immature for me and had no interest in a real commitment. From my experience guys my age are a lot more likely to only be interested in "dating" me in order to get into my pants (and when you do have sex with them they're often really bad lovers as they're very selfish and not interested in your pleasure so long as they get theirs) My boyfriend now is the exact opposite of all that. He wasn't selfish (unlike the guys my age I slept with) Consequently it's easily the best sex I've ever had. In fact, I can pretty confidently say I want sex even more then he does (which is a first for me in the relationship world)

My girlfriend is two years older, but I don't notice. She is a beautiful woman internally and externally. The only gap that is visible is our height gap. I'm a foot taller than her. It doesn't feel that extreme to me, feels more like eight inch, but is a foot. God requires mutual faith in Christ and that is present. Younger women are often more open to age gaps. 2. Just because both parties consent doesn't mean there's no power imbalances going on, which is more likely to happen in age gap relationships because there's more often than not a large gap in life experience. The brain doesn't even finish maturing until around 25. The average 40 year old is not going to have much in common with an average 20 year old, and I don't care what other people say.

Age gaps really do depend on the age range to know if there are red flags there. A ten year gap of 20 and 30 is generally a bit more of a red flag than say 30 and 40, cause a 20 year old isn't fully mature yet and could have been manipulated, though that's not always the case.

My parents have a big age gap, but it’s something that personally isn’t for me.
I think age gaps are fine, but it’s disgusting when older men are actively seeking out women in their 20s. Why can’t they date women around their own age instead of seeking out a certain age group?
But if two people of differing ages happen to fall in love, and age was never a factor in their attraction towards each other, then it shouldn’t matter.
I think she is a number, if the connection is there and you enjoy each other's company you shouldn't let age hey in the way. I've been with a guy 14 years older and got that was 3 years younger.
I think ideally the man is a couple of years (about 3-7) older than the woman. The reasons are a bit complex to why - but broadly speaking both sexes bring different things to the relationship and men can do that better when being a little older and more experienced. Not to mention that men do age differently than women.
I do cross the line at "could be your father" age difference, though. So around 20 years.

Late teens (18 or 19) to early and middle twenties (20-26): to me, shouldn't be dating people more than 3 years older. For 18 and 19 maybe only 2 years older. Anyone over 26 can date who they deem fit, they should be mature enough to do that by then. I've just seen plenty of incredibly immature 18-26 year olds, including myself at times. I think 26 is maybe the year where people get their stuff together😂, that's just my estimation though.
Here is the rule. Take the man's age and divide it by two and then add seven years. And that is the youngest woman he can date. For example. I am 50. Divided by 2 and you get 25. Add 7 years and the youngest woman I can date would be 32. That is how to determine if the age gap is acceptable.

Good logical counterpoint, but unfortunately it won't be taken seriously due to "creep factor". By that I mean if you have an attractive (younger) person and an unattractive (older) person do the exact same thing, an attractive person is totally okay and even encouraged, but an unattractive person doing the exact thing is a creep. @RedFever The majority of relationships that I have known of personally, where there was a large age gap between the two dissolved. They lasted a few months then disintegrated.
Key words here being, "that I have known personally". You cannot extrapolate personal experiences to such an extent and ever think those experiences would in any way, shape or form accurately reflect the larger reality.

i think with women ya should go 20 or older to date ya shouldn't date any younger that 25 because most women dont really want serious relationships before then and it's much easier to date younger women than older women because they're much more flexible but older women tend to have much better sex though

I don't think age doesn't matter as long as they are genuine and trust each other. It may be a bit awkward at first, but as time goes by if they truly like each other it may work out.
Yeah that's disgusting.. My max was 10 years younger (my wife is 9 years my junior).. Anything younger just seems like a father daughter kind of thing, and just weird and gross.

I'm 53 but look younger and younger women are always trying to get close to me in stores and talk to me because I'm tall and strong. So I'm somewhat suspicious of the age gap too but If she really loved me I wouldn't hold it against her.
age gap isn't big of deal but it can become if for example the woman is from 18 to 25 dating a guy who is 55 to 65 or even above that is where most 55 or 65 old mens are already grandpas lol no offensive just not a good sign

I can’t particularly reference this website since this site won’t allow it until I’m at a certain level, but I can attest to successful relationships that I can speak of anecdotally.
My best friend parents have a 10 year gap and since I’ve known him (1999), his parents have been a something to model. My best friends mom has passed since 2019 but his dad loved that woman to death. Til this day, he still mourns her and talks about her when he can. He was 10 years older than her and they were damn near perfect.
I have a cousin also with a wife and their 9 years apart. They’re very happy together as well. I have more family and friends with age gap relationships and they seem to be happy.
Also to mention that both men came from previous marriages that didn’t work out. Age isn’t an issue. It’s about what you put into your relationship, compatibility, maturity and etc.
I’m not sure where you got you information but looking at statistics doesn’t mean it’ll mean the same for everyone else. Just use your senses and judge the situation you’re in and you should be good with whomever you choose to love.
You can just google divorce rate and abuse rate. I don't know why you need to justify going after women who are old enough to be your daughter. It is like women justifying gold digging. at least wealth increase while youth decrease so what you are doing is worse
It works both ways. Women go after young men and older men go after young women. Then there’s the ones that prefer to stay in their age range. I’m not justifying anything. Just sharing with you that it’s not all bad. The point is love is blind but don’t ask if you don’t care to hear anyone’s comments about it. Simple as that.
I think two consenting adults should fuck and date without pressure of judgement of society. Period. Idc about the age gap, if its same sex, if its interracial - mind ya business 😉
