What do you think of age gaps in relationships?

You are 20 and if she is 18 or 19, I don't think there's anything weird about that.

The problem wih age gaps is not the age itself but that an age gap usually means you are at different stages in life, have different interests, goals, and priorities, and successful relationships always involve sharing some common goals and interests. I have dated a few women who were significantly younger or older than me. I enjoyed all of them but never thought of them as potential long term relationships.

Depends on the details of how you met and why you're together. Imagine if you met a 20 year-old female who was mentally like a 6 year-old and looked like a 10 year-old... I think you'd agree that you'd have to be pedo to be into her. On the flip side imagine an 18 year-old who mentally seems like 20+ and they 100% look 20+. I don't see the problem, as long as you aren't some weirdo who went out of your way to find an 18 year old based on age.

That said.. when I was even mid 20s I accidentally went on a date with an 18 (who had a full time job in an office and seemed older). She was fine as hell and looked 23-25 easily. The second she started talking I felt like I was with a 5 year-old and it was an instant turn off. I guess it's relative.. the stuff you think of as mature now you won't 5-10 years down the road.

In my culture anyhow (U. S.) -- I imagine in some countries an 18 year-old is more like a full grown adult in the U. S. ... vs. in the U. S. people tend to mature way slower.

I've dated both younger than me by six months and older than me by eight years, the younger one lasted less than a month as he was too immature, clingy and threw man-tantrums, whereas the older one lasted nine years but was controlling, self absorbed and slept with anything with a pulse, so from my experience age is irrelevant as long as its legal, you're compatible and you're not as unlucky as I seem to be in the dating pool.

I'm 61 and my SO is age 55, which is a good spacing. We are in an age range where we remember most of the same movies and TV shows. We can also enjoy the same music- although I've heard enough Bon Jovi to last three lifetimes.

With a 15-plus gap, there is no real common ground. When I look at the GaG entertainment sub-forum where discussions are about singers and film stars, I don't recognize most of the photos.

"Never heard of them," is my most common answer.

Sometimes who is as close to my age as possible. 3 years younger or 3 years old older. I'm 24 and my partner is 26.

What do I think of age gaps in relationships? As long as they are both legal adults, I don't care, but I definitely wouldn't date an 18 year old.
