Should I date a guy that I love but don't necessarily have romantic feelings for?

It hurts me to see him get harmed in any sort of way. I do adore him and I just want to take care of him and his little heart and soul. He is a big sweetheart and I do have a very soft spot for him.

If you don't have any sort of romantic feelings for him, then it wouldn't be right to date him. You can love someone dearly and be there for them without being a sibling or romantic partner. It's not fair to him to be with him just because you platonically love him, you could hurt him that way. It's also not fair to you because you won't be truly happy and you'd be using him as a safeguard instead of taking a chance on someone you really want to be with. If you really love him like you say you do, then keep being his friend. Don't limit him or yourself by being in a stagnant relationship with no growth.

You need to be solidly attracted , and if you are , or you think that can be developed , he may be a great lover.. then you can make the rest work , but it needs to be able to work sexually..
