He brought a friend to our first date?

I meet this guy on tinder a while back, we have nice talks, sometimes we even flirt but he told me he is not really looking for anything, that if happens, great, but that he have 0 expectations. So I asked him out, he said yes and... He brought a friend with him... I didn't say anything because it was the first time I saw him in person and I didn't want to be rude, his friend was very nice but because of that me and the guy didn't really talked, I mean, we joked around but we didn't get to know each other... House later it was getting cold and he said he wanted to go home to get a jacket, asked me if I wanted to go with him but since I didn't really knew them I told it was OK and that I would wait for them (he told me he lived close by), later he sended me a message saying that something came up and he was not coming back, he apologized, I said it was ok, he said he really enjoyed the company and that was it. That was yesterday, I sended him a message today and he is replying as normal, nothing different. I made a comment basically asking if he left because he didn't like my company (in a joking way) he haven't replied yet but I don't know if it's something I should keep persisting.. I would never take a friend to a first date, so maybe he didn't see it as one? I am very confused and I don't really know how to talk to him about it... Can anyone help me?
