Met with my shy guy friend last night. I’m in his town for a week. First we hung out alone for a couple of hours and then he invited me to meet his group of friends, so we went to see them. He made it sound spontanious but I understood they had planned for it. It was 4 guys and one of them brought his new girlfriend for the first time...

Based on just this - did he bring me as just a friend or what do you think?

You keep posting about this shy guy friend. Why don’t you just have a conversation with him? You realize that all we can do here is analyze and speculate but the only factual things come from him, right? I don't know maybe you’re afraid to tell him your feelings or ask him his because of rejection or ruining your friendship, but if that’s the case then you shouldn’t even bother considering romance with him.
