Deep down he knows he isn't, but he's too insecure to admit it. Dump him. Find a guy who doesn't feel the need to claim that he's superior to you in any way. That's a huge red flag.

Talk to him and sit down. Tell him this could lead to disconnect between you and him. Let him know your serious. Tell him sometimes I need you to hear my perspective at times. Any normal guy should understand that and would be willing to let his pride down. Tell him I love your brains and competitiveness, but sometimes I just need you to listen.
