How to tell if he actually likes you?

I’ve been taking to this guy on and off since April and we finally went on our first date in July. And then 2 more dates in the last 2 weeks. We text pretty often (almost everyday or at least every week) he works weekends and I work during the week and we live about 2 hrs from eachother. He told me he likes me, and that he feels like this could be something. And he hints at me being in his future, but in the last couple of days after seeing him on Friday, it just doesn’t feel like he likes me? Maybe I’m thinking too deep into this but we briefly talked on Saturday and then on Sunday he didn’t respond at all, until Monday morning. Even after that our texts were slow and it almost felt like I was forcing it so I just told him to have a good day and left it at his thanks on Wednesday. We haven’t talked since but my birthday is next week. Do I wait for him to text me? Should I let the weekend pass and text him? Do I see if he remembers my birthday? Sooo confused

Talking openly might be the best way to see where this could lead and what is happening.

If he work weekends maybe he was stressed out or had a lot of work. If you're used to texting every day maybe it would just be easier to ask him how has he been and was he busy. No harm in that.

Yep. Wait for him to reach out. The worst thing you can do in this moment is force contact or nag him about it. It will only push him further away.
