Its the female equivalent to a male's opening line...
gotta get a foot in the door, BEFORE you can 'sell yourself'.
As a female, if you're NOT just looking for a platonic friend, you're FISHING!
The optimized photo, all 'tarted' up is seeking to draw curiosity & infatuation.
A recent 'Church of the Final Process' cult used to pragmatically term it 'flirty fishing'...
human males ESPECIALLY are subconsciously 'visual'.
Males would stand transfixed in wrapt attention, to a Nun reading a telephone book,
if you 'tarted her up' insightfully. "Pee-raise Chee-zus!"
Some use current pics, some use old ones when they were younger or weighed less. A lot of female profiles though are just bait to get guys to pay money to join so they can send messages. I'm not sure if it is the sites themselves that do it or if users sign up for affiliate programs and create the fake profiles to make commission. I do know that any dating site you have to pay for is better off avoided if you're a guy.
I don't use dating sites, but have noticed on Facebook, Instagram, and the like that some girls have absolutely zero pictures without filters that slightly change their facial features, and so it wouldn't surprise me if they take it a bit further with dating sites and use old photos, heavily filtered ones, etc. The thing about the Internet in general is that people typically only post the most flattering things about themselves, including photos.
That is probably so. I post my worst so when someone sees me in person they will go "Wow, you look nothing like your pictures!"
That's a good idea!
I heard other girls saying they post 'untrue' pics, like filtered, because everyone else does and that is what people are used to seeing on social media..
I personally make sure at least half my photos are recent (within a year) and most without any makeup, which I rarely wear, and I never use filters or such anyway.
Best to be open and honest and there will be no surprises later on.

Damned good question. Although I generally have had very good results with dating sites, I had two dates where women showed up for our first meeting and it was obvious her pictures were taken 10 years or 100 pounds ago. And if my first impression of them is "liar' liar, pants on fire!" how in the hell do they expect to get a second date?
Apparently people prefer to use anime pictures or Wildlife or something that does not involve showing their faces on a dating site. Not many people willing to take the risk of letting people know the real person, especially when people have abusive and she passes that it's hard to show your face in public or a mind so they have to make a Persona of someone else the hide themselves. I don't know about the rest of the people on this post but as for me I actually got nothing to hide and willing to show my face and if it backfires on me then I just learn from my mistakes and try again.
There are Women who won't, because they have no intention of meeting the Guy in person. She leads him on for a time, then hits him eventually with saying she up and decided they aren't compatible. These are the ones who treat it as a game at the expense of others.
I found that more women lied about their ages than posted fake pictures. They usually listed themselves a couple years younger than they actually are. Fake pictures are easy to weed out, given video chatting and/or the first time you meet.
by the way, men are just as guilty, although many men like to post pictures of their package, which most women don't like.
Most I've experienced were true to the photo's, but I don't engage 9's and 10's either so maybe that's part of it. For one, many obviously lie about their looks, and second is that the ones who actually are that attractive are usually very high maintenance. I like the 6's.. low maintenance, dependable.
Yeah but quite often they take dozens and out of those they take the one that has the optimal angle and lighting to make a somewhat misleading picture.
Um everyone uses filters nowadays. That's the new reality. Even celebrities, Instagram models and of course the girls you see on GaG. I once a famous actress and she was nothing like you see in the movies.
So it's not just girls on dating sites
And of course, lots of guys use sugar-coated or ancient photos too
Generally real but manipulated to look good. Zoomed in to hide a fat looking face, layers of makeup, excessive highlights that make their face look flat by drowning all imperfections in shining light, even photoshop. I have seen it all. But I use dating sites where photos are optional, so you just learn to accept a manipulated photo as limited info. Better than no picture at all usually.
definitely not, many girls and men either young or old lie about their profiles. we have to be careful, there are many liars out there. some are just having fun so they are harmless, some are criminals, let us be careful
some do some dont but its a good question. the ones that do genuinely want a relationship and the ones that dont tend to be either looking for a hook up or a pen pal
I know for facts that more than a few do not. Just matched with a “22” year old who looks like a grandma. ,,,, then we have the ones with seven pictures, two from 15 years ago and five that look like the undertaker is on his way
I certainly wouldn't use a fake pic. No need for it. I mean, look at how shiny and blue I am!
When you reply to a thread do you send a Blue Fax?
No, I do not believe that anyone men or women have ever used a profile pic that is true to what they currently look like. Because, if you know you are considered good-looking, you are more than likely not to even put your picture up. Since, you are confident that they will not be disappointed when they actually see you. They are more than likely to just post a "Body Shot" sans your head. You know, cause if I take care of my body this well, imagine how much care I put into my face.
No because a lot of women put filters on them or they'll post pictures of when they looked their "best" years ago being in better shape, or not as fat. Posting unfiltered current pictures of yourself are important on dating apps.
This is me, do I look good?
They don't even use true pics on FB or other non-dating sites. Many times I see people in the local jail bookings that I know from FB and they always look way different because mugshots are not filtered.
Not all of them. Some of them use heavy make up or filters
no idea, never ever tried a dating site... but I did like your pics when it was the real you
Some do, some don't, some do but they're older uhm... fitter pictures of them.
If a woman is particularly homely I'd imagine she doesn't get many messages. While I don't condoan her catfishing a guy I can understand why she might.
I'm sure all women (well all women who have fair motives) do it with the thought in mind, "If he just got to know me and found out what a good person I am my pics won't matter as much".
Not always AND that also go for men. The Internet is the new way to deceive.
No, they download something from the internet and put it up as them. Somebody on this site wanted to sext and her picture was something that was lifted off the internet.
I'm sure a few do that here.
I don't think so...
Because, I prefer thick ladies, which are usual 30% of all females registered... but out of 100 swipes, just 3 are thick on their pic, probably bc being thick is here mostly seen as flaw
It would be better to just have modern day hookers in pic #2.
Not saying all women today are like that... but a huge percentage.
I think there’s an episode of South Park that shows how guys don’t really care.
which in a strange ironic way is them being less shallow. Yet more shallow both at the same time.
For the most part, yes...
Seems like the younger they are, the more likely the picture was taken in front of a bright light.
There's also thing they do with their mouths, puckering them to one side as if to hide their cheekbones.
Majority doesn't.
Try to hide certain body parts. funny angle to hide something.
Settings that is staged or a rare exception that makes people think they are something that isn't true.
To much makeup.
No pics without makeup.
80 percent definitely do not. Women lie about their weight w deceptive photos men lie about being married.
Well even if the online picture looks like them, if you see them without makeup and they look completely different, would you hold that against them?
Most girls are not going to bother putting makeup on unless they are going somewhere, like to the mall or out on a date. Plus some girls have natural beauty and don't need much makeup.
No, I don't recall saying that.
That's the point I'm making though. How are pictures that don't look like them IRL different from someone who wears make up but looks different without.
It's safe to say, if a girl feels her natural beauty is good enough that she doesn't need make up or add filters to her pictures, then she doesn't really apply to this question because she will look the same either way.
To answer your question of "why do it?" It would be b/c women want to feel like the natural beauty but can only achieve it through artificial means. If they were super confident, their online pictures would just be them at their current age, unedited, and with no make up. Perhaps they don't because they catch more eyes pandering to what other people find attractive.
But is that any different then men wearing ball caps to hide baldness? Or beards to hide their acne scars?
That's the first time I heard someone grow a beard for that reason. And it would be misleading IF a date was selecting people based on having hair and no acne scars. Otherwise, I don't see that as a problem.
Is it on the level of catfishing? Nope. Make no mistake though, guys catfish too.
About the make up vs no make up, this sounds silly, but there have been people actually sueing their wives.
www.google.com/search
Well apparently those guys were just in it for t he sex or the girl's looks. It certainly doesn't seem like they were looking for brains or a personality.
I did i even posted pictures of me in my pajamas back then lol
Usually they do, I mean if that’s not what they really look like the guy will not recognize her and leave
Yeah, I can see him now as he goes in the front door of the old folks home and wonder where the pretty nurse was that he was talking to.
How can 4 millions gals ALL look like a Kardashian? Many don't, I'm afraid. But, that is fairly "normal".
Don't know about the girls, but I definitely got fooled once cause the guy had a fake picture on. I even questioned him upon meeting why he had his fake pic on. To which he kept defending himself
True yes, but mostly they pick the ones they look the best in. Guys do the same thing.
Well true, because it is your pic that get's first notice.
Before i meet the girl i usually find her social media and check her recent pics and see, if it matches up or not and im not being tricked
I know that some are real, but the vast majority are likely fake, or even guys..
Is any woman whos face is drowning in makeup really "Visible"?
I think so, but eh maybe they don't. I think they would get the same results either way, so it doesn't actually matter most of the time, it's just for own satisfaction.
No, a lot use filters and group shots, or as you said, older pictures.
Guys can do the same though
Fuck dating sites what about real life waist trainers makeup wigs and now these hoes got mask on so we really don’t know what tf going on like this Saudi Arabia or something
Either way you aren't probably getting the real them with all the makeup most girls wear.
Most profiles are just automated bots. Very few of them are real
Too many scammers. They may not even be girls. It could be some burly guy named Bruno. And what's with the sunglasses? I'd like to see their eyes. Group pictures, which one in the group is her?
Yes and no. People in general would try and fake their profiles on dating sites.
You rarely can tell how they truly look like.
Depends on their level of insecurity.
Yes, most of them do.
Fuck no filters and make are all guys see
All the girls that were interested in me were spamming and wants money
That's why I don't trust online peeps
They post 1 pic like you would post of yourself
Some do some don't in my opinion
But how would you know unless you met them?
Noooo - most of that is fake shit, fake profiles
Rarely is all make up and filters
No it's probably with filter 🤣🤷🏻♂️
They can be deceptive
Most of the time yes
Women don’t even leave the house as their true selves
@PrettyPriyaHanma They do if they are just going out for fast food and don't have to worry about going inside anyplace.
This is true in some cases but not with me I'll leave the house looking like whatever
Nope
Catfish
Nope, and nowhere.
Once in awhile yes
If course they don’t
