+1 yOh my god NEVER! I have a friend back home her brother has the same name as her boyfriend! The hilarity and creepyness that ensued was just horrible and funny at the same time! she would me like:
Her: ”Omg I was blowing Paul last night, and he came so much, I thought I would throw-up, seriously what should I do, you guys?”
Answer from everyone: “ Stop sucking your brother’s dick!”
or Her:” Oh wow, Paul kissed me goodnight last night, it was the most tender, loving, but still passionate kiss I think I’ve ever had”
Someone:” Wow, MY brother usually just opens my bedroom door and farts, then says something like, sleep through that… you definitely have the more romantic brother!”32 Reply- +1 y

Lol 😂 it was one of those things that as long as you didn’t look TOO deeply at the issues involved, it was hilarious to bust her ovaries over that! She is STILL dating Paul! There is NO way I could date a guy with my brothers name… I won’t even date any guys named Tony after what my uncle Tony did. I guess if I met like the greatest guy ever… he’d have to switch to Anthony (including all his friends) I just don’t want to hear that name!

+1 yI had a “boyfriend” with the shortened version of my brother’s name. My brother always went by his full name. It was still weird.
I say “boyfriend” because it was middle school or something and we just liked each other and sat next to each other at lunch.30 Reply

+1 yHaha I dated a girl for like 3 years who had the same name as a parent.
It seems like it should be weird. When I read this, the first thing I thought was: "That would be so weird!" immediately followed by: "wait a minute... I've done that".
It was a long time ago, but I honestly don't remember any confusion or weirdness. I think maybe it was just easy to tell from context which (_____) people were talking about.10 Reply
+1 yNever used my parents first names, at times I forget them (names not parents), I don’t even know their middle names).
An even more weird one for you, when I was dating my ex wife, she used to get mistaken for my sister, something I never realised until at one time they had very similar hair cuts and colours.
I find it worse dating someone with same name as someone else you had a relationship with.10 Reply

+1 yMy boyfriends mom actually had the same name as my birth sister but I don't talk to her so it doesn't bother me

Hmm didn't know you had a sister.

Don't talk to her so no point in mentioning lol
1.8K opinions shared on Dating topic. No, I wouldn't date them. Dating someone who has the same first name as one of my parents would mean that I was dating a Portuguese speaker or someone of Portuguese descent. And that would be a nightmare! So no, thanks.
20 Reply468 opinions shared on Dating topic. Yes I would date that person. A name is just a name

Hmmm yeah i can understand that
547 opinions shared on Dating topic. I don't see it as any sort of problem. My mother's name is not very common, so I've encountered few women with that same name.
As others have said, were it too occur, most people have pet names for their significant others.10 Reply- 3.3K opinions shared on Dating topic.

My cousin married a guy with the same name as her deceased brother and that's super weird to me lol20 Reply
+1 yI swear people look for the dumbest reasons to reject someone this is why you don’t have a boyfriend/girlfriend

you mean that generally right?
I'd probably call them something else anyway, so it's not a big deal.

+1 yYeah, would be fine. I would probably just give them a different nickname than my family member :D, which would not be necessary for my dad who I rarely call by his actual name anyway :P

+1 yMy dad's name probably not 🤣 that could be awkward
20 Reply1.1K opinions shared on Dating topic. I'm sure if I liked them enough it wouldn't matter, but just the idea of that happening seems a bit awkward. 😂

+1 yParent? Sure, because I never really use my parents names, so they really aren't that associated to them in my brain, but same name as one of my siblings I think would be super weird
10 Reply2.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. Of course. My mum has the same name to a famous actress, famous actress is still hot and i would date her no doubt.

+1 yNo but only because my dad has a very dad name and the rest are women. I was asked out by someone with the same name as my dad once (he was around my age so not that weird).
10 Reply 391 opinions shared on Dating topic. I have family where one woman married in and ended up with the maiden name of one of the sisters who married out. It was a bit confusing!
10 Reply447 opinions shared on Dating topic. I couldn't, especially if it was my mother's name, constant reminder of her and I don't want that.
10 ReplySure, I would come up with a nickname or use their middle name ;)
