Does anyone have advice for me in terms of attending my girlfriend’s family’s Thanksgiving dinner? I am nervous because her family is Mexican?

My girlfriend is Latina and we’ve been dating for 5 months. I was invited to a Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and I asked her if there’s anything I should know and she said they mostly speak Spanish and her grand parents don’t know English at all so I’m kind of nervous now. She already told them I was white and don’t know Spanish and only know how to say “hi” but that’s basically it.

Im scared I won’t vibe with them and she’ll see it as my downfall if I don’t get along with her family. I really like this girl

its not hard at all. Funny story actually. I was in a situation where I went to the home of a Persian family. They didn't speak very good English but I kinda adapted and started speaking their broken English back to them because they understood. What I DIDN'T understand was a special request by the guy hosting me over. He said, "*insert my name* I want you to marry my niece. Will you come marry my niece?" I'm thinking oh God this is awkward now isn't it? Well his daughter came over and translated properly and she said, "He was asking if you would come to his niece's wedding". LOL! Oh God!

Phew I was so nervous at that time and then when everything was explained everyone just started laughing. My point is don't take yourself so seriously. Just relax and be kind and they'll be kind back. Honestly I've been around a lot of hispanic people and their familes and they are pretty awesome people. Very much family oriented and very laid back tbh. Where I grew up I had a Puerto Rican family I knew and would visit (I was sweet on one of the girls tbh). It didn't take me long to learn their traditions. Also keep notes on the food because it's hella good!

Advice from an old white guy: Just be polite to everyone, apologize for not speaking Spanish. She wouldn't invite you if she had any concern that you wouldn't be welcome. If you are serious about her, take some Spanish classes. I have one question for you: are you religiously compatible? Is she Catholic? Are you?
