Is it safe to give your number to someone on a dating app?

So a guy that I have barely even talked to is already asking for my number on a dating app. Will it be a good/safe idea to do so, and if not, what should I tell him to not push him away and continue to talk to him?

When I was online dating, I used a Google Voice phone number. You can create a Google Voice phone number under any Google account. If you're really worried about it, create a new/fake email address and link the phone number to that one.

You might end up like me though. Was with my boyfriend for 1.5 years before he found out he only had my Google Voice number! In my defense, I tried to give him my real number after a few months, and he said, "I don't know what Google Voice is. But as long as I can call you and text you, I'm good." Then a year later, his cousin told him Google Voice isn't even real! Haha. We laugh about it now, and I guess I'm lucky this ever even became an issue because that means we've stayed together long enough for it to matter.

Nope, they're free! I think it's limited to just one phone number per google account though. And you can download the Google Voice app on your phone, so it works just like a normal phone number/text

No ‼️ If anything, use a texting app if you must talk to him outside of the app. By giving your real number there’s so many free sites and apps where people can search it and find your name and address. Definitely not safe.

I would say if you just met then it's not a good idea, simply because nowadays the amount of things your number is connected to is easy to find people on it, for example, social media, and then you don't want people stalking you. I would say just say you don't give your number right away and if they want to get off the app (assuming they want to if they are asking for your number already) give them one of your socials, maybe the one you use least, that's safer, but you don't have to give it if you don't feel safe about it.

Just say yes I would love to talk to you on the phone but how about we do a video chat instead. Let’s not play games by giving out your number to anyone who asks you. Get them on video to see if they are serious and they look like there photos.

To be honest with you no it's not do not give your phone number to anybody not unless you know them I go to a lot of random chat sites and there are hundreds of girls that's all they do all day long is they try to get Guys phone numbers and their email if they can get a phone number and your email you're screwed you are going to be hacked

Bruh. You're the one who met him. If you think you can trust someone enough to give them your phone number (which can be deactivated or changed at any time by the way) then that's on you. If you are afraid of him, then just don't give him your number. Why would you let someone who hasn't met the guy make that decision for you?

Use a messaging site, etc. and tell him you prefer to not give out your phone number until after you have met once in person first. That's what I'd do.

Ask if they’d be comfortable talking on there a little longer or exchange social media first.
That’s what I did before. If they aren’t okay with that… Then that is a red flag.
