Are dating apps a good way to finding a long term relationship?

People have told me they are, most have said it’s geared towards hookups. 27F, it’s normally assumed that women have it easier but I’m not one of those women. I have to use apps because guys never approach me in person, even when I used to go out with friends. I’m told I’m attractive, the longest thing I had with someone was from an app & it lasted a few months. I felt like I settled (low self esteem) & really wished that I would have waited for a guy that checked off what I was looking for. Hence 4 years later & still single, should I blame the fact that I rely on the apps?

My wife and I met on match. com, and I know several other couples that met online. How to do it:

1. Establish mutual interest with someone local to you. This requires exchanging two messages: "I liked your profile and am interested in meeting you." "Cool, I liked yours too. Let's do it."

That's it. Further texting is a waste of time. You can text for weeks, finally meet, and there's no chemistry.

2. Set up a meeting in some public place that doesn't have to last long. Coffee is fine. Lunch is pushing it. Dinner is right out. If it's going well, you can extend it.

3. More dates. You know the rest.

I don't dating apps are generally good for finding long term relationships. I believe most people are on there for something casual. But again, anything can happen.

They can be. I found my partner on a dating app and he is literally everything I ever wanted in a partner. It's possible.

Apps are an acceptable way to meet a partner. Not everyone is constantly meeting valid dates through socializing.
