Guys, what do you think of girls talking a lot and initiating most of the conversations during dates?

I mean it takes the pressure off of me. The only conversations I tend to start are either "weather is nice" or "Have you heard of people being awake on the operating table? They can feel everything and need years of therapy afterwards." or "Have I told you about the politics of chimps and bonobos?"

There isn't much of an inbetween.

So I'm A-OK with her being the social initiator. Again, prefer it because it takes the pressure off of me. You'll just have to be content with the fact that I have ADHD so you'll probably give me a 15-minute long story and I'll pick up on some thing you said about balloons and then forget everything you said because I was wondering how balloons are manufactured and if nuclear fusion would result in a helium balloon boom.

There's something in the female genes that causes women to want to talk... a lot. Men generally talk succinctly, get right to the point. Women, on the other hand, usually tell long drawn out stories. Girls talking a lot and initiating most conversations is perfectly normal.

Find out what he’s interested in and talk to him about that. There’s a good chance that he has no idea on what to say about the subjects you’re talking about.

If you’re going to discuss this with him, tell him that you want more input from him. That you want to hear his thoughts an opinions. Ask him what he want’s to talk about. You’re going to have to work to draw him out. Just saying he needs to talk more won’t have the affect you’re looking for. Since it comes off as criticism, it’ll lock him away even further. Many introverts became quiet because they were ridiculed for things they said, so they say nothing.

I think he really likes you, but might be intimidated because of being socially awkward. Until he gets more comfortable with you, he keeps his guard up. It's a defense mechanism us shy guys have, unfortunately, which often disqualifies us from relationships with women because they see it as too much trouble and unappealing. It's nice that you sound like you're the type to be tolerant and help him out of his shell. He should open up though, talk more through texting because shy people are more comfortable opening up texting because there's less pressure to respond immediately and also you're not face to face. It's nice that his mom did that for you.

Because of how he reacted after the date when he wasn't under pressure. He texted you more friendly, he initiated. Get him to talk and open up more through texting, then over the phone, when on dates, if you can steer the conversation, it's best. He'll get comfortable that you won't hurt him and open up to you.
