Do guys like it when girls start the conversation?

Do guys like it when girls start the conversation or do they feel like girls are bothering them? Do guys prefer to speak to girls in their own time and when they feel like it or don't they mind when a girl sends a message first?

I don't mind personally if you look half decent or keep the conversation interesting. Just don't keep trying to talk to me when I show signs of not being interested in looking at you. Such as looking pass you, looking away, and body faced another direction. That's when it becomes annoying.

It would probably be a lot more effective if you talk to the guy that you want to talk to you, that way, it may be awkward, but he still can no longer chicken out

Thats very true. What are good things to say to make the guy want to talk to you because he's enjoying the conversation?

Ask him about himself. About his sports (His position, his event, his games and times... maybe show up to a couple and make sure he knows you're there.) about his hobbies (how long he's been doing them, etc) People generally love talking about themselves. Make him talk, and if you know for sure that he is interested, or after you've been talking to him a few times, talk about yourself a bit, and see how he takes to it.

And when you do ask him about the sport and he tells you about games and meets (whatever the sport he play, if he does, call's their competitions) be reluctant about going sound unsure as to if you can attend, and show up whenever possible. If you make it sound like you might go, and sound unsure, he will look for you, if not consciously, at least unconsciously and he will notice when or if you are there.

Then he is either annoyed or is interested but thinks it weird just to send you a text saying "hey" for no reason but to talk
