My wife is one of the most mature women I ever met in the way that counts most with relationships. That is to say, she hardly ever gets upset, and looks to deescalate rather than escalate conflicts. Yet she does have an inner child and competitive fun side to her that is so fun on dates.

Most of all she shares the same communication style as me. I like to tell a personal story (say an embarrassing and funny one) and take turns. Then she tells me a personal story, I tell her mine, and we hug and laugh and tease and there's this feeling I can't explain so well that we're about as perfect for each other as we'll ever find in this life.

I think we're both always seeking some level of mutual understanding and empathy. I think to other people, we might come across a bit self-absorbed sharing our personal stories so freely and eagerly, but it works in our case.

When I first met her (at a picnic), I actually thought she might be a snob in her fancy dress drinking fancy wine while I'm guzzling beers with my friends. But soon after we started talking, and talking, and always at the edge of the party. My wife's the soulful type who can talk so deeply at the edge of the party, like the balcony at your best friend's house looking at the moon and sharing her deepest thoughts and feelings.

I found myself talking to her so often all night long. It's like I found that more fun than chugging beers and arm-wrestling my friends. She's the soul of my life.

Marriage is dead. Men absolutely should NOT marry unless they want to lose everything they've ever worked for. She can and will take everything from you and no one will help you.

Lots of reasons.

Alimony is insane, imagine paying a person half your income for the rest of your life, even while you try to start a new family. You'll likely lose custody, because for some reason default shared parenting STILL hasn't happened (Why do parents have to fight for custody, why isn't it 50/50 by default unless there's an investigation to be done over alleged abuse)?

Fun (and by Fun, I mean horrible) Fact: Did you know that if a woman cheats on her husband and has an illegitimate child, he was 1 year to find out and leave or else he becomes defact father and he has to pay child support even though it isn't is? Even more comical is the actual father - who might not even know he has a child - is stripped of his parental rights!

Add to that the general culture women are raised in which is extremely toxic. It's trendy to bash men, hash tags like "#KillAllMen" and "#MenAreTrash" and "#YesAllMen" trend and no one gets banned. This has an effect on young women who are effectively raised by social media.

So as a male you are effectively trying to survive an openly hostile environment where the laws do not benefit you and the people on the opposing team are allowed to openly demonize anyone who shares the same chromosomal set as you. The most important things to you - your marriage, your children - can end at any moment so investing yourself into them is just deeply dangerous.

Oh of course not there are women who are wonderful, I'm with one right now (her culture doesn't really do marriage) but there's a constant risk.

I just don't think the risk is worth it since you can have incredible long term relationships without getting the government involved in your relationship.

Compatibility and flexibility. You gotta find someone who matches the way you think, feel, and want now and is willing to grow and change with you well into the years. Good, open communication about each others' needs and an open-mind to resolve conflicts and over come challenges with each other/together.
