They’re usually the most confident and outgoing which always turns women on.

Believe or not I too can wait for sex. I actually often wanted to. But I felt like if I don’t make a move these “modern women” will find me boring and then friéndzone by reflex. I hate that so that is why I make a move early. Not as much for gratification but to show where I stand.

Finding the right person can be a lot of work, just like a job.
I lived in a small town, so I used one of the better dating sites that you have to pay to use.
It cut down on those just looking to hook up.
Most people are there for the same reason, to find the right person.

There's your problem. Stop treating sex as a reward, casual, or as fun and then men would take you seriously. Self control, boundaries and morals is all you needed. The problem is, this is not something that can be done half way through. Either you only have sex in a committed relationship, or you don't. Now that you've been sleeping with men before knowing them, or qualifying them... you've discovered they only wanted one thing. Therefore you've diminished your chances of finding that 'gentle' caring jovial' man because he will be looking to see if you had self control, boundaries, and whether you had sex without making sure the man met your requirements and boundaries.

This is why I walked away decades ago!

well you can definitely rise your expectations high enough to never find a guy. not saying you're doing that. wanting "a serious relationship" first is in my opinion a very bad expectation to have from the get go. first and foremost, the person should be in the focus. are they ok. are you happy with them. and then think about relationship.
