Would you still split the bills 50/50 if your partner made 10k less then you?

My girlfriend pays for our internet, her car payment, and her car insurance. I pay everything else.

Yes, she only pays about 3-4% of our "shared" expenses.

Gotcha. How did you guys determine that ratio? If you don’t mind me asking? I’m trying to determine one with my partner and I am asking around for what works best for other couples

I pai for everything but did not have internet when she moved in; I always used my smartphone as a hotspot. She wanted internet and said she would pay for it. Otherwise, I pay for everything including the gas that goes into her car.

Yeah I would always try to spilt the bills evenly no matter what cause that’s what’s fair.
if my partner made less than me and needed help here and there, I would be more than happy to cover them when they need it

That’s what my partner offered to do. Pretty independent and it’s a inner conflict. But I agree it is fair you’d have a fair amount of saving between each other and enough to pay personal expenses separately.

Did you find the adjustment caused conflict? Did splitting the bills fairly work well in your predicament?

We never had any conflict when it came to our bills. My husband makes slightly more than me, I’m a server so my income isn’t always the same every week. And I’m still getting used to getting paid a little bit everyday rather than getting one big check a week. So he’s always been happy to help me with my half of the bills when I needed it. I always try to pay him back but sometimes he doesn’t want to take it

Yes. all the expenses should be figured out and it should not depend on who makes more money.
