I have to meet my crush for the first time today, please help?

So I have to meet my crush today for the first time in real life. We first started talking on Facebook, so haven't met in person yet.
He invited me to an event his doing for his work (he works at a bank).
I'm just worried because I'm very shy and have some social anxiety. I'm not really good at making small talk the first time I meet someone because I'm always trying not to be so nervous. So yeah, does anyone have any tips on what to make small talk about? I don't really know much about his work, so it will be difficult to talk about that I think.

Ask him to tell you all about his work. Guys love teaching you stuff, so act fascinated. Also ask about his family, his friends and like his hobbies. Let him ask you questions too and answer honestly. He’s just as curious about you as you are about him. Hopefully at the end of the date you guys can kiss or at least hold hands.
