Why did he invest time into me if he wasn’t interested?

Seeing a guy for 8 months.
Talking everyday. Saw each other every 2-3 weeks dependent on work. Reassured me of his feelings, asked me questions. Seemed genuinely invested in me. Now saying he never wanted to date me or be with me and he was being gentle.

Found out he’s started dating someone else at work for the past 4 weeks. We’d agreed not to see other people. Sometimes I need reassurance and in this last 4 weeks there has been multiple occasions where he could of made it clear we were done. Last week I asked him if he wanted to be just friends as he was struggling with MH issues and needed to work on himself. He was reassured me that had feelings and respected me.

why would you waste time investing in someone if you didn’t want to be with them?

Seems like the guy was keeping you around as a plan B option until something else came around. Not trying to be mean, but that is just how it seems. He seems like a creep and a jerk and you probably deserve better.

And you said he has MH issues... so that all the reassurance you need, because its probably nothing to do with you at all. He's just a loser, and you should be happy he did this sooner than later.
