Maybe he just wants you to be on a closer "psychological" level with him. I collect records and love music but I wouldn't want a girl that wants next to nothing to do with either. And, if she's at least somewhat interested, I'd like to get her a bit more interested so I could have someone close to me to talk records with. So far, I've been collecting records since I was 2 and, except for my neighbor, who I only get to see once or twice a month, I've never had anyone to talk music with on a personal level! And, more often than not, he's usually too busy to hang out and play records with.

Not at all. He wants to share his hobby and something he enjoys with you! He wants to be able to talk to you about books, and to have you enjoy them as well. Books are great for conversation and also keep people grounded. I would recommend you always have one on hand. They are great alternatives to phones in places you would go on your phone for ten minutes to scroll through social media.
