He went silent for 4 days so I reached out and asked if he was ok, he said he was sorry he hadn’t reached out to me. His been tired from night shifts and we chatted briefly. Then I woke up this morning to a message from him. Is he playing games with me or? Sorry just kind of confused here. I don’t tend to leave someone hanging for 4 days however I have gone 2 days without texting him before only because I was really sick.

To me, his actions are showing that he’s inconsistent and he is not ready to truly pursue romance in the way that you are. Days passing between when you talk should not be a thing, and if he is trying to relay unavailability or ultimate disinterest but say that he’s “too busy”, then let that be your sign to move on. You don’t want to be the one putting in all the effort and if his crutch is busyness, then he will not become less busy going forward and his disinterest in prioritizing a relationship with you will always be a thing. Save your future self from getting hurt and find someone who’s more on the same page as you.
