Why do you go out on dates?

What's agonizing about a date?

I was always excited and a bit nervous before a first date. I already knew that she was pretty because that's why I asked her out. To me, the whole purpose of the date was to have a good time and enjoy each other's company. I had hopes that we would wind up getting along and liking each other enough to have a second date. But I had no expectations.

My long term hope was to find a girlfriend and be in a committed, exclusive relationship.

I wanted a female best friend to hang out with, do things and go places with, talk to, and have passionate, unbridled sex with. Women are wonderful.

The reasons changed over time, as I got older. As a teenager, it was a combination of A-Companionship and E-Something to do. In my twenties, C-Possible Mate got added to that. After my divorce, it was a combination of A-Companionship and B-Sex. Then, after a few years of the dating scene, I realized I wanted to settle down again, and it became a A-Companionship, B-Sex and E-Something to do, and I ended up with my SO.

So, I picked G-Something Else as the best answer.

When I was single I went on dates to meet potential partners.
now with my hubby, we try to go out on date nights … we also love exploring sights/towns/food.
he has become more adventurous with foods and travel 😊
sometimes double date with sister and her hubby or with friends.

Come to think of it, I've never really been on one. My boyfriend cheated on me so I immediately hooked up with the guy who had wanted me forever (showed him , right) then my husband came around and snatched me so... yeah I don't know...

Oh jeez no lol. My x cheating and my forever admirer was within 48 hours because I wanted to hurt him like he'd hurt me and showed him that I could just snap my fingers and boom new guy right. But my husband came in later. Yeah I can see why it being in 24 hours might be a bit extreme lol...

We get so busy in life, sometimes it feels like you never get to spend any good quality time with your SO, so we always have designated dates to get away from it all and to focus on us.

I can't remember the last time we went on a date. Def before covid. Last summer we had takeout seafood and ate it in my truck while we waited for the ferry. I am not sure that counts as a date.

Guess it depends on your definition of what a date is. Taking the dog to the dog park and having a sandwich while we hang out and visit for an hour or so, I consider a date.
